Whether you are a vessel of honor or a vessel of dishonor depends on one thing in your life = Your free will or volition concerning what you choose to follow.

Whether you are a vessel of honor or a vessel of dishonor depends on one thing in your life = Your free will or volition concerning what you choose to follow.

  1. A miracle is not something in or of itself, a miracle, like a parable, is designed by God to reveal something about the individual who performs the miracle and the words or the message that He is about to teach.
  1. Miracles were used by our Lord to teach others, whether believers or unbelievers, the message that is about to be revealed by the supernatural power of God which is designed to convey who the man is and what the message is all about.
  2. The easiest definition of a miracle falls under the principle that it is not the man but the message that truly counts.

However, we are about to enter into a study that the average believer knows nothing about…..and that leads us to my fourth principle;

  1. And that is the fact that *** The man who is about to perform the miracle is God the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who desires those who are watching and listening to understand His message and His miracle, which is the manifestation of His glory.
  2. They (the Man and His message) are both working together to introduce to Israel that their Messiah has arrived and He is right before their eyes and about to perform a miracle right here at the wedding of Cana.

Most believers say they know the Lord Jesus Christ and Who He truly is but they do not understand the man and the message working together right before their eyes.

As the good doctor says, that is Dr. Luke who worked with the apostle Paul wrote LUK 1:68 that  “Blessed {be} the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people.

Notice that the Lord visits us every day in some way, yet many miss the visitation of the Lord because they are pre-occupied with other things rather than the Word of God.

  1. What makes this first miracle different and distinct from all the other miracles that our Lord will perform is that as you have heard me say this hundreds of times that it is not the man but the message that counts.

  1. What makes this miracle stand out from many other miracles is that both the Man and the message is present so that no one can say about this miracle, “It is not the man but the message that counts.”

When both the man, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the message, the manifestation of His glory,  are right before their eyes and they missed out on the visitation of our Lord because they were preoccupied with other things of this world.

The Torah can refer to the entire Old Testament or the first five books in the Old Testament which are the book of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, are also called the Law.

It shines in the believers who know and realize that they are the light of the world.

This principle was revealed with the woman who the Pharisees said was caught in adultery, and our Lord said in Joh 8:12, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

The light of life refers to believers who let it shine.

They are identified by our Lord beginning in MAT 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty {again}? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

And then here is another reason why we should let our light before men in MAT 5:16  “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Then notice one of the commands that the apostle John gives us in  1JO 2:15  Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

“Abiding forever” is a reference to the believers who have lived their life for the Lord in both time and eternity.

This means that you and I have been forgiven for “His name’s sake” because, as Hab 1:13 says that He cannot even look upon sin and therefore He forgives us so that His justice and righteousness is now satisfied and He is free to love us without compromising His character and His nature.

The evil one refers to Satan and his kingdom of darkness.

And then the divine command is given by the Apostle John in 1JO 2:15 which says  Do not love the world [that does not mean not the people of the world but the system of the world which we call the cosmic system]

The reason is that one of the main commands to pastors is to study and teach, study and teach and pray until he is exhausted; 1Ti 5:17.

In 1Ti 5:17   Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

The word for the elders is the masculine noun called ‎presbuteros (pres-boo’-ter-os); and it refers to the males who teach doctrine as an elder to those who are listening.

The word presbuteros is interesting because today there are many churches called Presbyterians, and the word that they use is the word presbuteros which does not mean elders but it means literally the “Old Man in charge.”

A miracle is God revealing to man and showing Himself to man so He can get man’s attention.

Mankind is so weak and frail, and mankind walks by sight, therefore, man constantly needs something to get his attention.

Knowing man is weak and walks by sight and not by faith knowing man needs illustrations and examples, we need divine power illustrated for us.

But when God raises someone from the dead and changes 120 gallons of water into 120 gallons of wine than God can get your attention and that’s just what a miracle is designed for.

A miracle is also God using what impresses man to get His attention.

This is why the early apostles performed many miracles because they wanted to get the attention of the people in that city.

After performing a miracle, the people would listen to the ones who performed the miracle and the messages that they are about to reveal to man.

Remember it’s never the man or the miracles that is the issue, it is the message that the miracle is used to draw attention to man.

Most scholars believe that Andrew, Peter, James, John, Philip and Nathaniel were the first disciples of our Lord.

It is important to note that the six disciples who represented our Lord’s new followers because there are 6 waterpots that are empty vessels, made of stone, (which speaks about people who have been hard all their life or have lived in the hardness of the heart).

So, Jesus said “fill those vessels of stone with water” and I will turn it into wine (the fruit of the Spirit).

There is a very beautiful illustration of the principle that Jesus could take a stone or a vessel (a type of a stone hearted person that’s empty and fill it with the water that He will turn into the wine of the Holy Spirit.

In this verse, JOH 2:6, the Lord uses the original Greek language noun Hudria which is translated waterpots, or vessels, to describe that the Lord uses these vessels to fill them up with the Spirit of God.

And so, the six waterpots or vessels represented six followers of our Lord, some who came from following John the Baptist along with some our Lord chose before He went to the wedding.

No longer were the Jews to be cleansed by the ceremony of pouring water into the vessels or the waterpots and then wash them all inside and then empty the water that was used to cleanse them out all of the water and pour new water in the vessel.

They were just to fill the vessel to the brim then pour the pure clean water into the waterpots or the vessels but now they could be cleansed by believing upon the Lord and enjoy the life that He gave you.

So, He tells the servants to draw water and fill the jars or put clean water in the waterpots or the empty vessels for the Jewish custom of purification.

Instead, our Lord told them to bring the water to the headwaiter and let him test it so He can taste it to see if it was good enough to drink, which he drank it and found it to be heavenly wine.

This action removed all doubt that this was a miracle performed by the Messiah to manifest His glory and it was also a glimpse of the Hypostatic Union in our Lord and Theandric action in us.

The word “theandric” comes from two Greek words, theos–God, and anthropos–man.

Theandric Action is the fullness of God’s divine nature overflowing  in the human vessel which is surrendered to the plan of God.

In fact, the Bible describes the human body of the born-again believer in the Church-age as a vessel in 1Th 4:4  that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

And so, this past week we noted in 2Ti 2 that there are some believers who are vessels unto honor and there are other believers who are vessels unto dishonor.

So, some believers are being prepared through progressive sanctification which means that they are advancing through the power of the Holy Spirit and the word of God and they can have a great impact in history.

On the other hand, other believers who have negative volition are becoming vessels unto dishonor.

Whether you are a vessel of honor or a vessel of dishonor depends on one thing in your life = Your free will or volition concerning what you choose to follow.

One that is being fitted out for honorable purposes called good work which in 2Ti 2:21 means having a positive historical impact with divinely good production.

The other type of believers are loser believers, usually very moral and very self-righteous, works oriented and phony.

The gold and silver vessels and the precious gems represent believers who are part of the pivot because they are fulfilling their personal sense of destiny and glorify the Lord in the devil’s world.

Believers who called gold are those who have reached the place of having maximum glorification of God and are ready to suffer for blessing by being a vessel prepared to be a witness for the prosecution in the midst of the angelic conflict.

Believers in the silver are those who have reached at least the second stage of spiritual adulthood which is spiritual autonomy or spiritual independence and they keep on plugging.

Believers who are defined as precious stones are those individuals who are reaching certain stages of the spiritual life and they keep on going forward with passing the tests of undeserved suffering.

The point is that every believer has the opportunity to be used by the Lord as gold or silver or precious stones which all glorify the Lord in some way.

Vessels of wood and earthenware are vessels of dishonor.

Wood represents humanity or the flesh and those of wood and earthenware are born again believers either in carnality or reversionism.

And one vessel is for an honorable purpose and one is for a dishonorable purpose.

Many vessels of dishonor are moral people but they assume that morality is spirituality.

They are making progress by means of the perception, metabolization, and application of the word of God, Joh 17:17.

Vessel is the noun skeuos and it means a vessel or waterpots or a vessel which is something that is empty because all born again believers are empty when they first become saved and they need to be filled by the power of the Spirit and the intake of doctrine.

Therefore, if the believer makes decisions under perception, metabolization and application of Bible doctrine, he will add the mind of Christ to his empty vessel.

And that is one of the main reasons why the Lord Jesus Christ expects what all of us to become which is an honorable vessel.

The word useful is the adjective euchreston which means to be very profitable.

How would you like to be a vessel that hears one day what MAT 25:21 says, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master.”

The born again believers who go for progressive sanctification become a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart] for a very profitable use by God.

And the honorable vessel is simply the born-again believer who through PVTD and exploitation of divine grace becomes a vessel of honor.

And so, it was the serious students of the word of God who when they were pushed back by Satan and his kingdom, they simply came back stronger than ever and they did not get discouraged.

And remember this principle, no matter how many times you have a setback, if you’re still alive, God has one purpose and that’s for you to advance.

One that is being fitted out for honorable purposes called good work which in verse 21 means having a positive historical impact with divinely good production.

The other type of believers are loser believers, usually very moral and very self-righteous, works oriented and phony!

Wood represents humanity or the flesh and those of wood and earthenware are born again believers either in carnality or reversionism.

And one vessel is for an honorable purpose and one is for a dishonorable purpose.

2TI 2:21  Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself away from these things [the characteristics of the dishonorable vessels, the reversionistic believers], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart], useful to the Master,

It is the noun skeuos and it means vessel because a vessel is something that is empty and all born again believers are empty and they need to be filled by the power of the Spirit and the intake of doctrine.

Therefore, if the believer makes decisions under perception, metabolization and application of Bible doctrine, he will add virtue to his empty vessel.

And this leads us to what I believe this first miracle was really all about which is:

  1. The Hypostatic Union
  2. Theandric Action.

The Hypostatic Union refers to God living in man, as undiminished deity and true humanity, in one person forever, namely the Lord Jesus Christ and Theandric Action which means man is becoming like God.

Ever since the inception or the beginning of the Church, Christians have struggled with the dilemma of representing the infinite God to finite mankind through vessels of clay.

Infinite means unlimited extent of time, space, or boundlessness, that goes from eternity past to eternity future.

On the other hand, we are finite which means being limited and dependent upon infinity for its guidance and direction.

The process of Theandric Action is the only provision whereby Christians are able to manifest the true nature of God in their mortal bodies within the Body of Christ and to a lost and dying world.

The word “theandric” comes from two Greek words, theos–God, and anthropos–man.

Theandric Action is the fullness to overflowing of God’s divine nature in the human vessel which is surrendered to the plan of God.

Most Christians never experience Theandric Action, because they ignorantly live in the effects of the Fall of man, expressing the character of the old adamic nature in the mentality, fulfilling selfish and vain pursuits.

When the life of God the Father is operational in the believer’s life, through the filling of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, which is the mind of Christ, the possibilities of experiencing Christ’s victory are limitless.
