MAT 13:21-22 You have no firm root in yourself, but you are only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately you fall away. you are the believer who hears the word, and the worry of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Turn to ISA 28:9-10
ASV - ISA 28:10 For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little.
In the very same day, as God had said to him = P.M.A. of Bible doctrine.
The Doctrine of Application.
Point 1. Introduction.
a. Refusing to hear the teaching of the word of God on a consistent basis.
b. Hearing the teaching of Bible doctrine but refusing to metabolize it; hence, the failure to convert gnosis into epignosis.
c. Metabolizing doctrine so that it exists in the soul but then refusing to apply the doctrine when needed.
1. The accumulation of scar tissue formed in the soul.
2. Withdrawal occurs resulting in the accumulation of trash in the soul.
Affirm - pres-act-ind - marturomai - martuvromai = to give a solemn warning, to illustrate as a witness, to beseech as in Gods name, exhort solemnly.
Controlled by the details of life. With fears and insecurities.
With blind pride.
Freaking out when faced with disaster.
Peripatein = ones pattern, ones life style, ones custom.
It means to keep walking around and around and around but never really getting anywhere.
To walk as unbelievers walk = to think like an unbeliever thinks.
It means to have in the soul the characteristics of an unbeliever.
Futility - mataiotes = emptiness, aimlessness, vanity or purposelessness; lack of vigor mentally.
God the Holy Spirit wants you to be in fellowship with Him, so that when He is exhaling Gods word, you are inhaling it in your soul through your human spirit. 2TI 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed.
JOB 32:8 “But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.”
Mataiotes = the soul is inhaling thoughts and ideas that produce emptiness and aimlessness in the soul.
Once you accept Christ as Savior your soul is saved, but the soul has deficiencies, and your soul must be filled with energy and power to overcome these deficiencies.
Nous - the mind = part of the soul which contains the thoughts that produce immediate reaction.
PSA 19:13 “Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins.”
Darkened perf-mid-part skotizo in the passive voice, it means to receive darkness or to have the mind blinded from truth.
Excluded - apallotrioo = to be alienated from God, from His grace and from His plan.
2TI 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from doctrine, and therefore will be turned aside to falsehood.
The “life of God” = living the spiritual life under the control of God the Holy Spirit.
1CO 10:16-17 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ? Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread.
Hardness - porosis = scar tissue or callous; hardness, blindness and stupidity.
Callous - apalgeo = to cease to feel anything or to become hardened, to be apathetic.
“Have given over” - paradidomi = to betray themselves.
“Sensuality” - aselgeia = uncontrollable lust, excess, lasciviousness, wantonness, and all kinds of sexual sins.
Greediness - pleonexia = to be greedy, to cheat, to lie for gain, to be deceitful, perverted, etc.
