How Abram came to the place of pleasing God.

Wednesday, March 13, 2002

1. Divine justice releasing divine power is the problem solver of life.

LUK 1:37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

LUK 18:27 “The things impossible with men are possible with God.”

JER 32:17 “Nothing is too hard for Him.”

2. If God can solve Abrams hopeless problem, He can solve your problems whether they are hopeless or not.

3. In Abrams case, maximum use of divine power includes the restoration of two helpless people in the field of procreation and pregnancy.

4. Divine power will manufacture and perpetuate the new race through one person, Isaac, and multiply it into a great nation as well as a great race.

5. The very existence of a Jew today on planet earth is a demonstration of the justice of God, the grace of God, the faithfulness and the power of God.

Turn to PSA 132:13-18

6. The perpetuation of the Jewish race is a reminder of the faithfulness of God.

Qal imperfect - naphal = he got down on his knees and then gradually stretched out until he fell forward with his face on the ground, bowing before TLJC.

The prostration of Abram recognizes the fact that through authority, and submission to authority, Abram has come to the place of pleasing God.

It did not in any way cause him to omit the reverence and total obeisance of recognition of authority.

Turn to ECC 5:1-2

guard - qal imperative - shamar = to guard, to take heed, to pay attention, to be aware, to be careful.

1TH 2:18 For we wanted to come to you -- I, Paul, more than once -- and yet Satan hindered us.

EPH 6:16 - the flaming missiles of the evil one.

EPH 6:16 - the flaming missiles of the evil one.

MAT 15:9 “But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.”

JOH 4:23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

JOH 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

ACT 18:13 - Paul was accused of “persuading men to worship God contrary to the law.”

PSA 138:2 I will bow down toward Your holy temple and will praise Your name for Your love and Your faithfulness, for You have exalted above all things Your name and Your word.

PSA 138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name. (NKJ)

PSA 138:2 I bow down toward Thy holy temple and give thanks to Thy name for Thy steadfast love and Thy faithfulness; for Thou hast exalted above everything Thy name and Thy word. (RSV)

JOH 12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My doctrines, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.”

JOH 2:16 And to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Fathers house a house of merchandise.”

MAT 6:23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

HEB 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

“God is in heaven and you are on the earth” = a statement of perspective not distance.

God is in the realm of the invisible. He hears the inaudible; He sees the intangible.

“Truth liberates!”

The zone of blessing is the area where God is glorified, and the area where God is pleased.

Abram is in a hopeless situation because Abram does not have the sexual prosperity necessary for the new race to be perpetuated.

Abrams impotence, or sexual death, means the impossibility from any human standpoint of enjoying the ultra supergrace blessing he desires.

Not only is Abram in a hopeless situation but there is also the impossibility of Sarais pregnancy.

We have promises previously given with regard to the Abrahamic covenant.

Does reality lie in sight and what is hopeless?

Does reality lie in the essence of God and what God has promised from His essence?

On the hopeless side - both Abram and Sarai are incapable of sex, incapable of having children, incapable of everything that is necessary.

On the positive side, God has promised it.

GEN 17:2 - the promised heir is the source of doctrinal reiteration and confirmation.

LUK 1:37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
