Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

The resurrection, ascension, and session is based on the strategic victory of our Lord in the angelic conflict, Heb 1-2.

Because you are positionally superior to that elect guardian angel, being in union with Christ, that angel, invisible, serves you right now.

When TLJC sat down at the right hand of God that revealed that He was better than angels because He is the heir of all things and the creator of the universe,
HEB 1:1-2.

TLJC has a better name and nature than angels, HEB 1:4.
TLJC is worshipped by angels, HEB 1:6.

He is the creator and master of angels, HEB 1:7.
He has an eternal throne and is anointed with the Holy Spirit, HEB 1:8-9.
He is unchangeable, HEB 1:10.

He is seated at God’s right hand, HEB 1:13.
Because of our union with Him elect angels serve us right now, HEB 1:14.

REV 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

DEU 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever”

Between the passing of the sentence in eternity past and the execution of that sentence at the end of the Millennium and the Gog revolution, an appeal trial is occurring in human history.

Human history is not only coterminous with the appeal trial of Satan and his fallen angels, but human history is the actual courtroom for that trial, and mankind was created to be a part of that trial.

Because of the fallen angels being under judgment and the human race being elevated above the angelic creation, the human race is being warned not to do what they have done, i.e. to reject the Messiah and the plan of God.

“To pay much closer attention” - pres-act-inf - prosechein - prosevcein.
Pros = face to face; looking the subject directly in the face.
Echo = to have and to hold.
To apply the mind to something, or to concentrate on the subject - the doctrine being taught.

ISA 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
ISA 48:11 “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can {My name} be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.”

“To pay much closer attention” = pres-act-inf - prosecho.

Grace always precedes judgment.

“Lest we drift away” - aor-act-subj - pararrhueo = to let the doctrine drift past you or to flow by you.

a. Refusing to hear the teaching of the word of God on a consistent basis.
b. Hearing the teaching of Bible doctrine but refusing to metabolize it; the failure to convert gnosis into epignosis.
c. Metabolizing doctrine so that it exists in the soul, but not applying what you have learned, and therefore the doctrine becomes unusable or forgotten.

Angels were used by God to bring doctrine to men, ACT 7:38,53.
Man is now being used by God to bring doctrine to men and angels, EPH 3:10.

God is using men, the church, to bring doctrine to angels and men -
EPH 3:10 In order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

“Every transgression” - noun parabasis = every form of stepping over the line.

Disobedience - noun parakoe = disobedience that results from neglecting to hear doctrine and letting these fantastic things drift by, as in verse 1.

Disobedience is said to be refusing to hear,
EXO 15:26; 19:5,8; 23:22; JOS 1:18; ISA 28:12; 30:9; JER 11:10; 32:23; 35:16-17.

EXO 15:26 And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments,”
ISA 30:9 For this is a rebellious people, false sons, Sons who refuse to listen To the instruction of the Lord;

JER 11:10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words,

Kenneth Wuest -
“The nature of the sin of Adam was a careless indifferent attitude towards the commands of God”

ROM 5:19 “For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous.”

Parakoe = “to hear alongside” thus failing to concentrate when hearing or hearing amiss.
It has the connotation of failing to hear due to a lack of carelessness because of a desire to have our own will.

e. Becoming anti-Christ, 1JO 2:18, 22; 1JO 4:3; 2Jo 7.
f. Becoming carnal, ROM 8:7; 1CO 3:1-2.
g. Becoming a disciple of the devil, 1JO 3:8,10.
h. Drifting off course from grace, GAL 5:4.

i. Falling from grace, HEB 12:15.
j. Becoming a tortured and unstable soul, 2PE 2:7-8,14.
k. Becoming shipwrecked, 1TI 1:19.
