The apostle Paul and the subject of emotion.

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

When Abraham became a Jew at the moment of his circumcision, he was a mature believer.

His brother Nahor was an unbeliever and remained a Gentile.

Abraham had seven sons; the first two are in focus, the eldest son was Ishmael who was a Gentile, but the youngest son was Isaac. Ishmael is Semitic, and Arabic, but he is not Jewish.

To prove that, we go down to the next generation where you have twins from Rebecca, Isaac’s twins Jacob and Esau. Here we have Esau and Jacob - the line goes through Jacob; Esau’s a Gentile.
Twins - one’s a Jew and one’s a Gentile.

The Jews are a unique race. They were unique in the way they were originated; they were unique in the first two thousand years of their history.

The Jews financed the first war for independence; the gun powder, the musket balls, the cannons, the clothing, the muskets, the swords, were all paid for by Jews.

One of the great functions of a client nation is to provide a haven for Israel.

We are destroying our own freedoms, we are violating every law of divine establishment, and one answer is this unique race that can have such an influence on the grace of God as to preserve us as a nation.

When he takes a Gentile by the name of Abraham at 99 and converts him instantaneously into a Jew and starts a new race, there has to be a reason for it.

The most obvious reason is the failure of all three lines of the Gentiles:
Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

The Jewish race, historically as well as biblically is the only nation that ever endured four hundred years of slavery.

Israel is unique because of their nation - the national uniqueness of Israel.

When God formed the Jewish nation after the exodus, their government was unique; it was a theocracy.

They were also a client nation. They were a priest nation.

In their function, their modus operandi of government, they have freedom. Privacy, property, and the umbrella of authority.

The first is evangelism, and the second is advance to maturity through the communication of Bible doctrine.

They also fulfill another responsibility called missionary activity.

One other factor for client nations today, since all client nations, after the fifth cycle of discipline to Israel, are Gentile nations.

When England was a client nation, when Scotland was a client nation, when Ireland was client nation, when Prussia was a client nation, Switzerland was a client nation. The United States at the present time is a client nation, and therefore we must be very sensitive to the true principles of freedom, and very sensitive to the true function of the Royal Family Honor Code.

1PE 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

First Israel, Exodus to the splitting after the death of Solomon. Then the northern kingdom, the southern kingdom, and the fourth is Judea.

There will be no priest nation technically until the Millennium.

In vs 1-5 the introduction - the uniqueness of Israel.
The second paragraph is the premise - all Israel is not Israel, ROM 9:6.
The third paragraph - the premise is illustrated by the formation of the Jewish nation, vs 7-18.
Paragraph four - the premise is illustrated by the essence of God,
vs 19-23.
Paragraph five - the premise is illustrated by the salvation of the Gentiles, vs 24-33.

Pres-act-ind - lego = to speak, to talk, here to communicate.
The present tense is a perfective present denoting the continuation of existing results.
The active voice - Paul produces the action of the verb as a part of his triple oath.

The triple oath indicates Paul’s honor and integrity, which he has indicated in so many ways, but in addition to his honor and integrity it now indicates his emotion.

It involves many, many unusual idioms, many hapax legomenas, many, many phrases and clauses, which are related in a most unusual way.

The Doctrine of the Emotions of the Soul.
Point 1. Definition and Description.
a. Emotion is part of the essence of the soul.

MAT 22:37 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,

Normally the emotion is to be dominated by the right lobe of the soul, by the mentality.

Abnormally the emotion rules the mentality; this is when neurosis and psychosis sets in.

Emotion has two functions in life as a part of the soul: a normal and an abnormal function.

The other parts of the soul include self-consciousness, volition, and the two frontal lobes, the mind and the heart.

Emotion is the female part of the soul and responds to the right lobe or the heart, which is the male part.

Category two love, right man, right woman, is taught in the Bible to illustrate the relationship between the emotion and the right lobe.

The right lobe possesses a frame of reference which is designed for thought, the memory center, vocabulary and categorical storage, the conscience, the momentum department, the wisdom department, and the subconscious.

Inside the right lobe of the soul is everything that should dominate emotion, so that emotion can become what it was designed to be by God, an appreciator of things.

Koilia [emotions] = something that is empty, or hollow.

Emotion is something empty and a part of you waiting to respond, not react.

Emotions contain no doctrine, no thought, no common sense, and no ability to reason.

By definition, the emotions are the appreciator of the soul.

By function, the emotions were designed to respond to the right lobe.

Emotion is not designed to assume authority over the soul, but is designed to be dominated by the right lobe.

Capacity for life is related to the right lobe, thought, not the emotions.

English words used in especially the King James Bible to describe the emotions include: bowels, belly, and reins.

GEN 43:30 And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

1KI 3:26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son,

SOS 5:4 “My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.”

JER 4:19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me;

PHI 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

Only in the right lobe, the kardia, exists the frame of reference, memory center, viewpoint, norms and standards, and doctrine.

Emotions are stimuli for action, and therefore must be regarded as a form of human energy.

The emotion of fear, also a sin, causes flight.

The emotion of disgust causes repulsion.

The emotion of anger causes violence.

MAT 27:46 “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”
