The ascension and session part 4.
Point 1: Introduction.
There are two Christological dispensations and it is the resurrection, ascension and session of TLJC which divides the two Christological dispensations.
Point 2: Definition.
The session is that doctrine of Christology pertaining to the glorification of our Lord’s “humanity” at the right hand of the Father.
Point 3, The historical account of the ascension and session, Acts 1:9‑11.
Point 4: The significance of the session.
PSA 110:1
His session fulfilled many prophecies such as the prophecy of Ps 110:1, “the Lord [God the Father] said to my Lord [God the Son], `sit down at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.'”
Point 5, The session and the strategic victory of the angelic conflict.
The word for “world” is aion and it means ages, dispensations, or periods of time.
The phrase “He sat down at the right hand of God” is when Christ received his third royal warrant, and when the angelic conflict shifted gears into its intensified stage.
If TLJC upholds and sustains all things by His word, do you think His word can handle your problems?
Purification is the noun katharismon which means to make us totally clean and pure from the defilement of the sin and the entire OSN.
The session means that the humanity of Christ inherited a greater title than any angelic creature including any seraphim or cherubim.
The session means that our Lord became the Victor of the angelic conflict as an inferior creature to angels.
Having become is the aor/mid/part of ginomai which means to become something you were not before.
COL 2:14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
COL 2:15 when [at the cross] He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
“He has inherited”
a. A new rank, in His humanity, He is now seated at the right hand of God, the highest place of authority in the universe, MAT 28:18.
MAT 28:18 and Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “all authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
1. Fulfilling the Father’s plan for His life (hypostatic union, kenosis).
2. The Cross (soteriology: redemption, expiation, sanctification, reconciliation, justification).
3. Resurrection, ascension, and session.
b. TLJC has a new title, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 1TI 6:15, REV 17:14; REV 19:16!
c. And TLJC has a brand new office, our Lord is appointed the High Priest by God the Father, HEB 5:4‑10, 6:20.
a. Our new rank, we’ve been made kings, REV 1:5; REV 5:10.
b. Our new title, we are God’s beloved sons and children of God, EPH 1:6; MAT 3:17, 1JO 3:1.
1JO 3:1 see how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.
c. And then our new office, we are royal priests,
1 Pe 2:5,9.
“name” is the noun onoma which means title, authority, character and integrity.
REV 3:1 and to the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name [onoma] that you are alive, but you are dead.’
begotten is the per/act/ind of gennao which is gegenneka and where we get the word genetics from.
verb for worship is the aor/act/imp of proskuneo which means to kiss; to adore; to respect; and to worship.
The humanity of TLJC will be worshipped by angels at the second advent.
is the per/act/ind of kleronomeo which is kekleronomeken meaning to be an heir; to inherit; to obtain. The ascension is that doctrine of Christology pertaining to the transfer of our Lord’s true humanity from planet earth to the third heaven in a resurrection body.
The angels are not merely servants, but of such a nature that God makes them according to the “needs” of His service, and being such as they are, they are changeable, in contrast to the Son who is their Ruler, and unchangeable.
God could not say this to deity, and He never said this to an angel; He said this to the humanity of Christ, making the humanity of Christ superior to angels.
This means that although we are now inferior to angels in our human bodies on earth, in the future, in resurrection bodies, we will be totally superior to angels, PHI 3:21.
Because you are positionally superior to that elect guardian angel being in union with Christ, that angel, invisible, serves you right now!!
MAT 25:41 depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;
“to pay much closer attention” is the pres/act/inf of prosecho which means to apply the mind to something, or to concentrate on the subject which is the doctrine being taught.
‘lest we drift away’ is the aor/act/subj, pararrhuomen which means to let the doctrine drift past you or to flow by you.
