The Attributes of God as they relate to your Personal Prayer Life.

The attributes of God = the characteristics and qualities of God or what makes Him who He is.

God is Love, 1JO 4:8b. God is motivated by His love to answer our prayers.

God is sovereign; He is supreme in rule and has authority over all things. There is no higher authority in the universe than God! DEU 4:39.

As part of His Character and nature, God is also perfect righteousness, 1SA 2:2, LEV 19:2.

God is Just, DEU 32:4. Because TLJC satisfied the justice of God the Father, God is now free to pardon and justify those who trust in His Son and to answer their prayers.

God is omniscient, ISA 46:8-11. He knows all things, has always known everything, every thought, every motive, every event and every action of every person who would ever live!

God is also omnipresence; He is ever present. JER 23:24.

JER 23:23-24Am I a God who is near,” declares the Lord, And not a God far off? “Can a man hide himself in hiding places, So I do not see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? declares the Lord. ”

HEB 13:5For He Himself has said, I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you.” MAT 28:20 “lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

God is omnipotent; He is all powerful and limitless in ability. He is called God almighty, GEN 17:1.

GEN 18:14Is anything too difficult for the Lord?

By His power or omnipotence He rules and upholds all things, HEB 1:3.

MAT 19:26With God all things are possible.”

When we understand the omnipotence of God we will be assured that nothing is to hard for Him, JER 32:17.

a. We must have confidence in prayer as a practical power and legitimate powerful weapon, HEB 11:6

Just as faith puts God’s power into operation in the believer’s life, unbelief puts limitations on God’s power in the believer’s life.

It would have been useless to the great purposes of His mission to have worked miracles there.

They were so “prejudiced” that they were not in a condition to “judge the evidence” properly and to be convinced.

b. We must be direct and open in the presence of God, LUK 11:9-13.

HEB 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

JOB 34:21For His eyes are upon the ways of a man, And He sees all his steps.”

The hypocrite’s offense is that he bears false witness against himself.

Two of the most important factors in prayer are “time and method.”

We must find time for prayer if we desire to have God’s highest and best for our life.

Robert Murray McCheyne – “I ought to spend the best hours of the day in communion with God. It’s the most fruitful time of my life!”

You must beware of replacing “prayer time” with something that you consider to be spiritual.

Sol 1:6 “My mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me caretaker of the vineyards, {But} I have not taken care of my own vineyard.”

The most important thing in the prayer life is to have a right method!

1TI 4:5 for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

In the Bible God “speaks” to us while in prayer we “speak” to God!
