The Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Part 3. Tom Cotroneo.
Friday, May 25, 2012
“For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace”.
God the Holy Spirit takes every believer at the point of salvation and enters him into union with Jesus Christ.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit belongs to all believers – the carnal as well as the spiritual.
All believers have the same security. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not an experience. It is neither an emotion nor ecstatics. It is something you possess on the basis of grace.
The results of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit are not progressive, it can never be added to or improved upon, either in time or in eternity.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not related to human merit or human good. It is a grace gift of God.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is eternal in nature, it will last forever and it cannot be changed by God, by angels, or by man.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is known only by the Word of God, and it must be communicated to you, it isn’t something you would ever pick up on your own.

Members of His Kingdom

1 Jn 5:11-12 – God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
ROM 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ.
His Election and Predestination
ROM 8:29-30 – For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren;
30 and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
GAL 3:26 – For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
His Resurrection and Glorification
ROM 6:5 – For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.
ROM 8:16-17 – The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.

Victory Over the OSN
ROM 6:6-7 – Know this, our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.
He Intercedes for Us
ROM 8:34 – who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
1 Peter 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
GAL 5:1 – It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
God’s Grace is Poured Down on Us

Availability of Divine Power
2 Peter 1:3-His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
We Receive a Spiritual Gift
1 Cor 7:7 – Each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that.
Access to God
HEB 4:16 – Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.
Experiential sancti?cation depends on:
1] Positive volition.
2] The filling of the Holy Spirit.
3] Bible Doctrine.
Let no one think that he is holy, or sancti?ed because of how he lives.
We are said to be holy, or sancti?ed, solely because of our position in Christ.
