Sunday, September 2, 2012

JOH 1:29 – The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

ho Amnós tou Theou
This is the genitive of source.
It should be translated
“the Lamb from God.”

JOH 6:35 – “I am the bread of life.”
JOH 8:12 – “I am the light of the world.”
JOH 10:7 – “I am the door of the sheep.”
JOH 10:14 – “I am the good shepherd.”

JOH 11:25 – “I am the resurrection and the life.”
JOH 14:6 – “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
JOH 15:1 – “I am the true vine.”

The word to “take away” is a present active participle of the verb airoo.
It also means to lift up, to bear, to carry.

He not only takes away our sins, He lifts them up and carries them off.

1] He came to take away the guilt of sin and vacate the judgment against us.
2] He came to take away the power of sin so that it shall not have dominion over us.

The great sin of the world is one into which all men enter.
It is rebellion against the authority of God, and against His righteousness.
All are guilty.

His work was not confined to any one race or any specific part of the world, but was designed to open the way of salvation to all men.

1 Jn 2:2 – He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
2 Co 5:19 – God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.
1 Ti 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all.

ISA 53:6 – All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.
1 Ti 4:10 It is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
TIT 2:11 – For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men.
HEB 2:9 – Jesus…….by the grace of God tasted death for everyone.
