“many things” are the details of the Father’s plan including the Church-age, the 5th cycle of discipline to Israel, and the fulfilment of the unconditional covenants to Israel at the second advent.

“and to judge concerning you” – He is going to indict religion before He goes to the cross.

“he that sent me is true” – He goes back to the two witnesses. When there are two members of the Godhead as witnesses, this is an absolute.

“from Him” –

John 3:14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;

John 12:32
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

“know” – gnosis, which means to perceive. When He is lifted up on the cross they will perceive the greatest act of God in all history, but it will not change their hearts.

para, immediate source. The Son and the Father were side by side in eternity when the plan for man was designed.

Matt 13:13-14
“Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. “And in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,’You will keep on hearing, but will not understand; And you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

After witnessing the cross, all who saw, saw the ultimate act of love and grace. So they saw it, but they did not understand nor believe in Him.

The Father has not left Him alone, but when He is lifted up His Father will leave Him alone.

The Son and the Father were side by side in eternity when the plan for man was designed. They were also side by side throughout the first Advent – until His substitutionary spiritual death.

Matt 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ” Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? “that is,” My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? “

Matt 27:47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “This man is calling for Elijah.”

Ps 22:1
My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?
Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.

Christ never deviated from the Father’s plan once, for if He did He would not have arrived at the cross impeccable as the qualified Savior.

The perfect tense of pisteuo, believe in the past with results that go on forever, following the aorist, the moment you believed = eternal security.

“If” is a third class condition – maybe yes or maybe no – and it splits believers into two groups. Believers who reject doctrine and those who are positive.

“you abide” – meno. (aorist active subjunctive) = to abide, to persist, to stick with doctrine no matter what.

“if you abide in my word” – Knowledge of doctrine is the greatest virtue in the Christian life.

This describes a disciple in terms of a believer who lives in the Word. Those who are minus doctrine are not disciples; those who are plus doctrine are disciples.

A disciple – mathates = a technical student of the word – is a believer who gets with the Word and sticks with it, learns it, uses it, applies it – all the time, never stops.

“shall know” – ginosko, means to learn by studying. It connotes discipline in learning so it refers to the disciplined student of the word of God that learns all the categories of the word of God.

Be filled with the Spirit, learn from Genesis to Revelation with special emphasis on mystery doctrine, and submit to the authority of the PT.

You aint gonna make it as a disciple if you cannot submit to proper authority – and I don’t mean only when it’s right or you think it’s right.

su tis ei – “You who I am?” is again a question of sarcasm – “You who are God?”. Jesus answered, “essentially that is what I have been telling you from the beginning”.
