The believers responsibility part 3.
Sunday, August 23, 2009
You are a Christian because you are rightly related to Christ and you are spiritual when you are rightly related to the Spirit. Both depend on believing something.
Cleansing - exposure to doctrine and using the rebound technique, i.e. your two power options - BD and the F/HS.
EPH 5:26 that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
Walking in the light is not sinlessness; rather it is having confession of sin at the ready whenever a transgression is committed.
Every time we sin we lose fellowship with the Father, the Son and the HS and that fellowship is restored when we confess our sin(s).
Rebound and recover -
The recover part is to forget the transgression and behold the Savior. We beheld the Living Word for salvation and we behold the Written Word for recovery.
God does everything in grace and we can do nothing. Faith is non-meritorious. The spiritual life is the ability to walk by means of the Spirit. You must be able to capitalize on the power of the indwelling Spirit.
Motivation for doing so is not so that God can accept you, but that you have already been accepted by God. You don’t win the favor of God; you have the favor of God.
The new problem which confronts the believer is not one of how he should live that he might be accepted and perfected before God, but rather of how he, an accepted and perfected person, should live after these stupendous realities are accomplished by the grace and power of God.
HEB 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
You don’t have an obligation to become holy; you are as holy as TLJC at the moment of salvation and forever, therefore you don’t fall under a merit system - not the Law, and not anything in modern Protestantism.
Do you live in a certain way because you have already been set right or because you are trying to be set right?
When you understand how precious the things that God has imputed to you and provided for you are, your motivation to live in them will be unstoppable.
If an angel, who can see God face to face longs to look into the things we are learning then mystery doctrine is more desirable than seeing God before the time.
