Point 3. The Book of Life In Relation to Believers.

Their names stand permanently written (recorded) in the book of life, LUK 10:20;HEB 12:23; reveal an abiding state.

LUK 10:20 “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

“are recorded” per/pass/ind, eggraphao which means to be permanently inscribed, engraved or written, here, in heaven.

“who are enrolled” per/pass/part, apografoo = to be written, to be entered into a register or book, to be enrolled.

The book of life is the guarantee of eternal salvation, REV 13:8; 17:8; 21:27.

Washing of the robes progressive sanctification, which depends upon God and us.

Garments not to the imputed righteousness of Christ but to the “righteous acts of the saints,” REV 19:8.
