Matt 4:7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'”

Only positive believers stand up for the truth in the midst of confrontation from the world system.

Jesus challenges human viewpoint every time He speaks and He exposes human thinking in all of its fallacies.

2 Peter 1:4
For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Mankind loves the world system because it curtails to their lust [power, approbation, monetary, sexual, chemical, social, etc.]; promising them everything and delivering on nothing.

2 Cor 2:11
in order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

Brilliant kosmic men do not like to have their views chopped down by divine viewpoint.

If they don’t like the message they will attack the messenger. If they can discredit the messenger in their own minds then they can convince themselves that the message is wrong.

What does He testify to? Notice that it is to their works, not sins. The works of the kosmos are evil – Jesus makes the issue between divine and human good.

The word for “evil” is poneros, and while it means evil it also means useless, worthless, something that is spoiled [rotten, i.e. not eternal]. In other words, the human viewpoint of life is worthless and never solves anything.

While they are closely associated with Jesus Christ by birth, nevertheless the kosmos is not capable of hating you because you are a part of the kosmos.

It is possible for loved ones and friends to give you advice which is exactly what Satan would say.

Before you ask anyone for advice on a spiritual matter, ask God first in prayer.

John 14:13
And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

When these brothers suggest that Jesus go down and proclaim Himself with miracles, they have taken the words right out of Satan’s mouth.

Matt 4:5
Then the devil took Him into the holy city; and he had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,

Matt 4:6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God throw Yourself down; for it is written,
‘He will give His angels charge concerning You’;
And ‘On their hands they will bear You up,
Lest You strike Your foot against a stone.'”
