Christian Soldier, Part 3. Recognize Reversionism. God’s Strategy For The Christian Soldier. Pastor Robert McLaughlin

October 3, 2021

Adversity is inevitable, stress is optional.

Some of the adversity we go through is from God Himself, though most of the adversity comes from our own free will making negative decisions.

God has also given us the tools we need to overcome these adversities and prevent them from becoming stress within our soul. (1CO 15:57)

1CO 15:57  but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Two Power Options:

The Filling Of The Holy Spirit.

The Daily Intake Of Bible Doctrine Or The Word Of God.

The unbeliever can only rely on the divine laws of establishment to help them through these adversities.

Reaction and blame will only create more problems within the soul.

PHI 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

If we choose to focus on the problem, we are in essence saying to God — that — we can handle our own problems and we don’t need His solutions. (1Pe 5:5)

1Pe 5:5, You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

If we continue to focus on the problems and adversities of life, past or present, then God will allow the pain and misery to continue and we will only have ourselves to blame.

Unhappiness is Arrogance.

PSA 119:67 Before (in the past – where we no longer live -in the past) I was afflicted I went astray, But now (- now – the present and the future – I move forward toward TLJC- PHI 3:13) I keep Your word.

In reversionism, we revert back to what we were like before we knew our Lord Jesus Christ.

The words of Joseph in GEN 50:20 “And as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.

Moses said in DEU 23:5 “the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the Lord your God loves you.

Isaiah said in ISA 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.

The apostle Paul said in ROM 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Reversionism simply means that a believer in Jesus Christ, even a spiritually mature believer, can revert back to his old unbelieving ways.

Reversionism Stage 1. Reaction & Distraction. As a believer, we can either “respond” to circumstances and people in our life (using Bible Doctrine in your soul) or we can “react” to them.

Only you can live your spiritual life, no one else can live it for you.

Reversionism Stage 2.  The Frantic Search For Happiness.

You must have “epignosis” knowledge in the right lobe of the soul or the heart, which the Bible speaks of something in your head not your cardiovascular system.

”Gnosis” is what you hear and understand.

Epignosis” is what you “believe” about what your heard and understood.

  1. The Ascetic Christian.
  2. The Legalistic Christian. (Both of these types – have a trend toward morality – and 3rd we have:).
  3. The Lascivious Christian.

 Reversionism Stage 3. Operation Boomerang.

EPH 4:11-12,  And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.

Reversionism Stage 4. Emotional Revolt Of The Soul.

Emotion is no longer the “responder or appreciator” of the soul, it now becomes the “dictator”.

When emotion takes control of the soul, the believer becomes irrational.

Here is where irrationality begins, — instead of using Bible Doctrine in your heart to respond to circumstances, — your emotion dictates your behavior.

2 Co 6:11-12, O you Corinthians, our mouth is open to you (Bible teaching); our heart (right lobe of the soul) is enlarged (with doctrine). You are not hindered (from learning doctrine) by us, but you are hindered by your own (what?) emotions.

ROM 16:17-18, Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and offenses in opposition to the doctrine which you have learned, and avoid them.

ROM 16:18 For they are such who serve not our Lord Jesus Christ but their own (what’s that next word?) emotions, and by smooth and flattering speech they deceive the right lobes of the stupid.

Emotion was given to human life as an appreciator of the things the Creator so graciously gives us.

Reversionism Stage 5. Negative Volition Toward Bible Doctrine. This is where Ritual vs. Reality can come into play.

They become uninterested in Bible Doctrine — unmoved –unresponsive, — they couldn’t care less about the Word and the PPOG for their lives.

The Lord calls us to do what is right … to seek righteousness and justice that reflect “the reality of Christ” in our lives.

The Lord requires from us:

1) To be occupied with Him.

2) To be governed by His doctrine.

3) To love and to serve Him.

4) To have all five parts of our soul in complete submission to Him.

(DEU 10:12 & MIC 6:8)

5 Parts Of The Soul: (including) 1. The Emotion, 2. The Self-Conscious, 3. The Volition, 4. The Mentality, (and) 5. The Conscience.

Reversionism Stage 6. Blackout of the Soul.

Here is where a vacuum opens in the left lobe of the soul (the staging area – where information is located or the mind) called (MA- TIE- OWE-TAES) “mataiotes” in the Greek  and it means vanity as in EPH 4:17.

EPH 4:17   This I say therefore, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility [mataiotes] of their mind,

Satan knows his fate, he realizes it is only a matter of time BUT he thinks he can change it.

The Bible is full of  Satan’s failures and his failed attempts especially from extermination of the Jews to avoid the covenants with racial Israel from being fulfilled.

1JO 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

PHI 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge (epignosis) and all discernment,

1TH 4:9   Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God (that’s through the filling of the HS) to love one another;

Reversionism Stage 7. “Scar Tissue Of The Soul” Aka  “Hardness Of The Heart”.

Evil influence enters into the right lobe of the soul where “epignosis” knowledge is stored and actually begins to block the truth of Bible Doctrine. JOH 12:40

JOH 12:40, He has blinded their eyes (perception), and He has hardened their heart: lest (result of scar tissue) they should see with their eyes, and perceive by means of their heart (right lobe), and be turned around (receive conversion), and I restore them.

Reversionism Stage 8. Reverse Process Reversionism.– This is when believers revert back to their unbelieving ways.

They forget that God’s justice is His grace policy.

He condemns those who do not believe in Jesus Christ.

He blesses those that believe in His name.

  1. We Should Pray For Others By Name Because Prayer Really Helps The People We Pray For.

Praying for other people is massively important to their success in the ministry, their life, and their walk with God.

2CO 1:11  you also joining in helping us through your prayers, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed upon us through the prayers of many.

Col 4:2   Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

COL 4:3   praying at the same time for us as well, that God may open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;

COL 4:4  in order that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.

  1. The Lord Jesus Christ  And The Holy Spirit Pray For Us.

JOH 13:15 “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.”

1JO 2:6  the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

ROM 8:26   And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;

ROM 8:27  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

What the Spirit does – we will seek to do.

What grieves the Spirit will grieve you.

What delights the Spirit will delight you.

What the Holy Spirit cares about, we will.

Since the Holy Spirit clearly intercedes for others in prayer, we who are filled with the Spirit should seek to do the same.

  1. It Increases Our Love for Each Other.

MAT 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you

MAT 5:45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on   the righteous and the unrighteous.

Pray for our enemies because He knows our hearts will be softened and changed towards them.

Praying for others also changes your heart towards that person.

  1. It Brings Glory to God.

Creating a shared partnership in the good God produces through us, thus giving us all a reason to praise God when one of us succeeds in accomplishing His desires for us.

What the Spirit does – we will seek to do.
What grieves the Spirit will grieve you.
What delights the Spirit will delight you.
What the Holy Spirit cares about, we will.

MAT 5:45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on   the righteous and the unrighteous.

Praying for others also changes your heart towards that person.

  1. 4. It Brings Glory to God.

Creating a shared partnership in the good God produces through us, thus giving us all a reason to praise God when one of us succeeds in accomplishing His desires for us.

These two are the ones that they have chosen,

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is given to those believers who desire to glorify our Lord with the doctrines that have to do with becoming a “Christian warrior” as a “Christian Soldier.”

Each of the nine principles of warfare can be summed up in one word — Winner.

1) The principle of objective = Plan
2) The principle of offensive = Victory
3) The principle of mass =
Power

4) The principle of economy of force = Execution
5) The principle of movement = Momentum
6) The principle of surprise =
Attack

7) The principle of security = Support
8) The principle of simplicity = Accuracy
9) The principle of cooperation =
Teamwork

Notice*** The nine words of production.
1) Plan
2) Victory
3) Power
4)
Execution

5) Momentum
6) Attack
7) Support
8) Accuracy
9)
Teamwork

There is a great and powerful enemy and kingdom surrounding us.

This kingdom is called “the kingdom of darkness” and is controlled by your adversary, the devil in Col 1:13; 1Pe 5:8.

COL 1:13  For He delivered us from the domain or the kingdom of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

1PE 5:8  Be of sober {spirit,} be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

There is also the  importance of spiritual exercise.

Spiritual exercise takes training.
Spiritual exercise takes self-discipline
.

1) Exercising self-discipline
2) Assembling together.
3) Concentrating on the teaching.
4) Having good manners.
5) Remaining silent in speech and action
.

6) Not disturbing others.
7) Not moving around.
8) Practicing objectivity.
9) Persistence in spite of distraction
.

A soldier is told who to fight and he understands who his enemies are.

A soldier is supplied logistically as he goes forward in training, discipline, and warfare.

God provides the Christian soldier logistical grace for his spiritual walk and warfare, 2PE 1:2-4.

The military bears the expense of the war and furnishes the soldier with whatever is necessary for his calling.

Likewise, our Lord has given us clothes, armor, weapons, and whatever we need to handle what we are going to face.

Everything we need, both in the natural realm and in the spiritual realm, has been provided for us by God.

In the military, a soldier must also be an expert and well-skilled in his field.

The Christian soldier ought to be well-skilled in all things necessary for his calling, in LUK 14:28  “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

In the military a natural soldier must know his position in his unit and how to keep both rank and file.

The Christian soldier must know his place and particular station.

The Christian soldier ought to know where God the Holy Spirit has placed him in the body of Christ, 1CO 12:18.

1CO 12:18  But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.

Now, we can never be a winner as a Christian soldier unless we understand the Ten Problem-Solving Devices available to the Church-age believer.

PSD #1 Rebound which is the confession of known sins to God, 1JO 1:9, JOH 13:10, PSA 32:5. It is a grace function, requiring no overt works by the believer such as penitence which is feeling sorrow or sorry for your sins.

1JO 1:9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

JOH 13:10  Jesus said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”

Notice the two words given, acknowledge and confess — that’s it, that’s all.

The rebound technique is the only problem-solving device that functions when the believer is in a state of carnality, in a state of sin, out of fellowship with God.

Rebound results in of the filling of the Spirit because God not only is faithful and just to forgive us for the sins that we confess but He also cleanses us from all unrighteousness and that means we can be back in fellowship with God.

For one of the seven ministries of God the Holy Spirit at salvation is to fill the believer with the Holy Spirit.

For some believers that is the only time they are ever filled with the Spirit because when they commit their first sin, they are out of fellowship and do not know how to be filled with the Spirit from that point on.

In His justice and righteousness, He provides the individuals and the messages to teach them but they do not listen to what the Spirit is saying to the Church, the entire body of Christ.

Without rebound as a problem-solving device, it would be impossible to utilize your portfolio of invisible assets.

Without rebound as the first problem-solving device, it would be impossible to learn and use the other problem-solving devices.

This problem-solving device which we call rebound is the most neglected one in the Church today, but is the key to using all other problem-solving devices.

Without rebound as the first problem-solving device, it would be impossible to execute the predesigned plan of God.

Without rebound as the first problem-solving device, it would be impossible to become an invisible hero and, therefore, a member of the pivot (a remnant of mature believers in a nation), which glorifies God.

The pivot is defined as the accumulation of mature believers living in a client nation or under civil government in a specific geographical location.

While a pivot is composed primarily of mature believers, it may also include those positive believers whose momentum has carried them into spiritual adulthood.

MAT 5:13  “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty {again}? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

MAT 5:14  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Without rebound as a problem-solving device, it would be impossible to be filled with the Spirit, yet the Christian way of a life is a supernatural way of life and demands a supernatural means of execution.

Without rebound as a problem-solving device, the believer will end up being at least nine things:
(1)  An enemy of the Cross (PHI 3:18)
(2)  An enemy of God (JAM 4:4)
(3)  Haters of God (JOH 15:23)
(4)  Double-minded (JAM 4:8
)

(5)  Anti (against)-Christ (1JO 2:22,28; 1JO 4:3; 2JO 7)
(6)  Carnal (1CO 3:3)
(7)  A disciple of the devil (1JO 3:8,10)
(8)  One who grieves the Holy Spirit (EPH 4:30)
(9)  One who quenches the Holy Spirit (1TH 5:19
).

1) The principle of objective = Plan
2) The principle of offensive = Victory
3) The principle of mass = Power

4) The principle of economy of force = Execution
5) The principle of movement = Momentum
 6) The principle of surprise = Attack

7) The principle of security = Support
8) The principle of simplicity = Accuracy
9) The principle of cooperation = Teamwork

Then there is the  importance of spiritual exercise which takes training and self-discipline for the Royal Family in the congregation of the local church which means:

 1) Exercising self-discipline
 2) Assembling together.
 3) Concentrating on the teaching.
 4) Having good manners.

5) Remaining silent in speech and action.
 6) Not disturbing others.
 7) Not moving around.
 8) Practicing objectivity.
 9) Persistence in spite of distraction.

Nine is generally seen as a number indicating completeness.

The human period of conception and bringing forth life is nine months.

For example, a complete circle is 360 degrees and 3+6+0 = 9.

Christ’s life was completed and He died in the ninth hour.

There are nine groups of people called blessed in the Sermon on the Mount.

1Jo 1:9  “If we acknowledge [admit, cite, name, confess] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and righteous with the result that He forgives our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness [sins of ignorance].”

Homologeo (acknowledge) originally meant to cite a courtroom case that proves one’s acceptance of that which they are confessing.

In this sense, a believer acknowledges, names, or cites a case that went to court already – the  court being the cross where the judgment of our sins were paid for by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The sins of the believer fragment his life, which is tantamount to being out of fellowship with God, outside of the PPOG and no longer filled with the Holy Spirit.

HEB 11:25  choosing rather to endure ill‑treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin;

When controlled by the old sin nature, we may try to improve ourselves, make vows, or try to make it up to God.

The legalist wants you to feel sorry for your sin and to make rash promises to never do it again (often a promise that you will break).

He is disgusted with you and he is shocked by your sin and therefore, he wants you to pay for your sins and even burn.

This is the attitude of the moral degeneracy of Cosmic 2 (self-righteous judgmental legalistic) believers.

Legalism rejects God’s grace policy, a policy whereby God did all the work at salvation.

The work is accomplished by the OP of God the Father related to our invisible assets, by the OP of God the Son giving us one day at a time, and by the OP of God the H.S. to execute God’s plan.

So, the post-salvation sins of the believer must be dealt with in grace through a non-meritorious act which we call rebound.

COL 2:6  As you have received the Lord Jesus (by grace through faith) so walk in Him (by grace through faith – especially when it comes to rebound).

Prin: The most basic problem-solving device for believers is rebound whereby we simply admit or cite or name or acknowledge our sins to God in the privacy of our priesthood.

Second prin: Just as there is nothing we can add to faith in Christ for salvation, so there is nothing we can add to the acknowledgement of our sins for rebound and recovery of our fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Third prin: Both believing in Christ for salvation and simply acknowledging our sins for forgiveness are non‑meritorious acts.

(1)  Acknowledge or confess known sin (1JO 1:9).

(2)  Isolate the sin in HEB 12:15 “See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness sprouting up cause trouble, and through this [bitterness]  life] many are defiled or contaminated.

(3)   Forget the sin = Phi 3:13, “Brethren, I do not evaluate myself to have attained, but I do concentrate on one thing: forgetting those sins which are behind, and pressing toward those things which are ahead [execution of the PPOG].”

(4)   Keep moving forward spiritually = Phi 3:14, “I keep advancing toward the objective for the prize of that upward call from God  in Christ Jesus.”

The conclusion from this verse is that, if you are still alive after you name your sins, God intends for you to advance spiritually from that moment on!

The results of rebound are as follows:
(1)  You are restored to fellowship with God.
(2)  You have recovered the filling of the Spirit.
(3)  You have reentered the PPOG
.

(1)  “If we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged” (1CO 11:31).

(2)   Rom 6:13 and 12:1 teach the concept “to yield or to present yourselves ” —  which refers to the rebound technique as the means of reentry into the PPOG,

(3)  “Lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily entangles us” (HEB 12:1).

(4)   “Be subject to the Father of our spirits” (HEB 12:9).

(5)  “Lift up the hands that hang down” (HEB 12:12).

(6)   “Make straight paths” (MAT 3:3, HEB 12:13).

(7)  “Arise from the dead” (EPH 5:14).

(8)  Laying aside the old man – Eph 4:22 “lay aside the old man which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit.

Problem-solving Device Number Two: The Filling of the Holy Spirit.

The filling of the Holy Spirit is unique to the Church Age because this dispensation is the first time in history when all believers are indwelled by the Holy Spirit and are commanded to be filled with the Spirit.

In Luke 11:13, He said, “If you then, being good, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask for Him?”

There is no human attribute, no system of human success, no talent, no system of works, no system of any kind apart from God whereby we have the ability to execute God’s plan for our lives.

You have to be filled with the Spirit before anything you do for God is counted as gold, silver, and precious stones (1CO 3:12)!

All Christian production is a result of spirituality
on the one hand and spiritual growth on the other hand.

The PPOG is an idiom and abbreviation that I have developed for a plan that God the Father created for the Church-age believer before the foundation of the world.

There are two approaches to the conceptualization of the filling of the Spirit: the issue of who controls your soul and the issue of whether your soul resides in the PPOG or in the cosmic system.

(1)    At salvation, God the Holy Spirit indwells the body of every believer in order to create a temple, a place of residence, for the indwelling of Christ as the Shekinah Glory.

(2)   So the believer’s body is indwelt by God the Holy Spirit, but it is also indwelt by the old sin nature; Gal 5:16-17.

The gate to the soul is volition, and your volition or free will decides who controls your soul.

The old sin nature is the source of temptation; the Holy Spirit is the source of the spiritual life through the enabling power of the Spirit.

This is a conclusion that we come to by interpreting passages under the hermeneutical principle of  I.C.E.

First of all, *** The “I” stands for Isagogics which tells us that the command to “be filled with the Spirit” is given only one time in all of human history and that is in the dispensation of the Church-age.

EPH 3:5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;

Look at ROM 16:25  Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,

ROM 16:26   but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; or of obedience to pistis or doctrine.

Also, under the principle of Isagogics there is no command to be filled with the Spirit ever given by means of prophecy throughout the Word of God including the dispensation of the Tribulation period or the dispensation of the Millennium.

Next there is the “C” under the principle of I.C.E. which refers to categories of doctrine where it compares scriptures with scriptures.

And *** All nine manifestations of rebound are said to lead us to a place of positive results which have to do with being filled with the Spirit and having fellowship with God.

Grieving the  Holy Spirit comes from living in sin, not sinning, but living in sin as Eph 4:30 says.

PRO 3:5  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding.

PRO 3:6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

  1. 1. To fill up a deficiency. At salvation we are deficient of doctrine and therefore we need doctrine to be filled with Spirit.
  2. 2. To fully possess. The believer must be fully possessed by the Holy Spirit and Bible doctrine before he can be fully possessed by the blessings of maturity.
  3. 3. To fully influence. The believer is fully influenced by Bible doctrine so that he can have capacity for blessing and therefore he is “filled with the Spirit.”
  4. 4. To fill with a certain quality. Doctrine is the highest quality with which the believer can be filled.

So, *** The “E” in I.C.E. tells us how we can be filled with the Spirit  which is to have PVTD.

It is used for the pastor communicating doctrine to his sheep.  Col 1:25, “that I might fill up the deficiency of the Word of God.”

In Eph 3:19  the word is used for the mature believer receiving the imputation of his escrow blessings; Eph 3:19, “that you might be filled up with all the fullness [divine blessing] from God.”

The human spirit builds a building right up into the right lobe of the soul.

In Luk 2:40, the humanity of Christ had an edification complex of the soul, “becoming full of wisdom.”

Col 1:9b, “that you might be filled up with the epignosis knowledge of His sovereign purpose by means of all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”

It is used for perception of doctrine resulting in capacity for happiness in maturity, 1Jo 1:4, “that your happiness might be fulfilled.”

It is used for the priestly function of giving, Phi 4:18.

PHI 4:18  But I have received everything in full [pleroo], and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well‑pleasing to God.

It is used for the mature believer’s production of divine good, Phi 1:11; Rev 3:2.

PHI 1:11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

REV 3:2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed [pleroo] in the sight of My God.

All these verses teach what it means to be filled with the Spirit which all have to deal with the PMA of Bible doctrine.

You are either 100% spiritual or 0% spiritual (and 100% carnal).

You are either filled with the Spirit or you are grieving andor quenching the Spirit.

You can be a genius in human I.Q. and understand no
doctrine and have no spiritual growth.

Conversely, you can be just a few points above a moron and grow spiritually to maturity.

Spiritual I.Q. has no limitations thanks to the ministry of God the Holy Spirit.

The filling of the Spirit, which is tantamount to life inside the PPOG and the means by which all problem-solving devices are learned and utilized.

PSD #3: The Faith-Rest Drill = entails claiming a promise made by God in the Scriptures and then relying (resting upon) God to fulfill His promise, HEB 4:1-2, 4:10-11; Rom 4:1-7.

PSD #3: The Faith-Rest Drill = entails claiming a promise made by God in the Scriptures and then relying (resting upon) God to fulfill His promise, HEB 4:1-2, 4:10-11; Rom 4:1-7.

In the spiritual life, God does the work and the believer receives the reward, PHI 1:6. The faith-rest drill also involves trusting in the character of God Who is faithful to the believer, DEU 7:9, 2TI 2:13, 1TH 5:24, 2TH 3:3.

PHI 1:6  For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

DEU 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

2TI 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.

1TH 5:24  Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.|

2TH 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

PSD #4: Grace Orientation: This is the gracious gift from God, 1CO 4:7, 2CO 12:9, JAM 4:6. Grace orientation promotes an attitude of humility in the believer; it is the antithesis of arrogance. Grace orientation also motivates the believer to act graciously towards others.

JAM 4:6  But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

PSD #5: Doctrinal Orientation: Achieved by the PMA of BD  and promotes thinking and living by God’s norms and standards, MAT 4:4, ISA 55:9, 1CO 2:16, ROM 12:2, JOH 4:24. Bible doctrine also gives the believer the power to live the spiritual life, HEB 4:12.

PSD #6: A Personal Sense of Destiny. As long as a believer is alive, God has a plan for him, JER 29:11, PHI 1:20-21. This fact should give the believer hope (confidence, expectation) about the future, ROM 15:13, PHI 1:20.

JER 29:11  ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

ROM 15:13  Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

PSD #7: Personal Love for God: God is loving, righteous, just, faithful, and much more. As such, God is a deserving object of our personal love, Deu 6:5, Mar 12:30, Luk 10:27.

You cannot love someone you have never met unless you learn about him, 1PE 1:8.

1PE 1:8  and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

PSD #8: Impersonal Love for All Mankind: Derived from the integrity of the one who loves and does not consider the worthiness (or lack of worthiness) of the one being loved.

Impersonal love is derived from spiritual self-esteem, grace-orientation, and a relaxed mental attitude of the lover, MAT 5:44, ROM 13:9, GAL 5:14, JAM 2:8.

MAT 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.

PSD #9: Sharing the Happiness of God: +H is a perfect happiness that is not dependent on circumstances or people. It is “true” happiness for the believer who is abiding by the Royal Family Honor Code and living in the PPOG; JAM 1:25, MAT 25:23, JOH 15:11, PHI 4:11.

Metabolized doctrine is able and has the power to give the believer whatever is needed to handle the problems of life.

MAT 25:23  ‘Well done, good and faithful slave; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

PHI 4:11 Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

PSD #10: Occupation with Christ: The natural result of learning Bible doctrine, 1PE 3:15, HEB 3:6, EPH 3:19, 2CO 5:14. All of Scripture points to Him, the manifest person of the Trinity.

1PE 3:15  but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

HEB 3:6  but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.

EPH 3:19  and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.

2CO 5:14  For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;

Occupation with Christ prevents occupation with the human race. Christian marriage is an illustration of the Church’s relationship with Jesus Christ, EPH 5:22-33.

  1. a. Divine institution #1: Volition – Volition is defined as unfettered, uncoerced moral choice. Volition, then, is moral free will referenced in such verses as Joshua 24:15 and throughout the book Proverbs.

JOS 24:15  “And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

  1. b. Divine institution #2: Marriage. Marriage is the joining together of one man and one woman to become “one flesh,” GEN 2:24 and MAR 10:7. Marriage perpetuates the human race. Christian marriage is an illustration of the Church’s relationship with Jesus Christ, EPH 5:22-33.
  2. c. Divine institution #3: Family is graciously provided to man by God, EPH 3:14-15. The family remains the basis for all human societies. The family provides a stable environment for children to grow up safely under the authority of their parents.

EPH 3:14-15,   For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

  1. d. Divine institution #4: Government or patriotism. Government is provided by God to furnish man with an environment conducive to freedom, ROM 13:1-7.
