The Cross Throughout the Scriptures – Part 17

24. TLJC Willingly Offers Himself. Joh 10

The cross is the door by which the sheep must enter.

The lambs sacrificed by the Jewish priests in the temple did not know what was about to happen to them.

ACT 2:23 this {Man}, delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put {Him} to death.

ACT 2:24 And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

HEB 9:14 “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

25. The Corn of Wheat Which Falls into the Ground.

Joh 12

In the deepest depths of His soul was the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb’s sacrifice to put away the sin of the world.

REV 5:9 “Worthy art Thou to take the book, and to break its seals; for Thou wast slain, and didst purchase for God with Thy blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

REV 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;

HEB 12:2 – the joy set before Him which allowed Him to endure the cross, despising the shame,

ISA 53:11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see {it} and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.

He is the great Atlas carrying the world upon His shoulders.

1TI 4:10 He is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

Only by the blotting out of sin and guilt, through the cross, could victory be accomplished.

26. Gethsemane’s Garden.

EXO 3:5 “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

Christians have gone to the stake singing, and our Lord is greater than them all.

The martyrs of the early church have embraced death without a shadow of fear, rejoicing over this privilege, and He is greater than them.

JOH 13:27 “What you do, do quickly.”

JOH 17:1 These things Jesus spoke; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son, that the Son may glorify Thee,”

MAR 14:34 “My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.”

MAR 14:35 And He went a little beyond {them,} and fell to the ground, and {began} to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass Him by.

MAR 14:36 And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for Thee; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt.”

GAL 6:5 For each one shall bear his own load.

HEB 5:7 In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.

HEB 5:8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

MAT 26:45 Then He came to the disciples, and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.”
