The Cross Throughout the Scriptures – Part 27

The Church was born crucified.

She was taken out of the wounded side of TLJC, the last Adam, just as Eve was taken out of the first Adam’s ribs.

JOH 12:21 – certain Greeks came to Philip and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”

Our Lord did not consent to their wishes; He chose the cross first, JOH 12:20-23.

2CO 5:16 Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

JAM 4:1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your lusts that wage war in your members?

The heart of man was desperately wicked and deceitful above all things, JER 17:9.

ISA 1:5 Where will you be stricken again, As you continue in your rebellion? The whole head is sick, And the whole heart is faint.

ISA 1:6 From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in it, Only bruises, welts, and raw wounds, Not pressed out or bandaged, Nor softened with oil.

EPH 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off [Gentiles] have been brought near by the blood of Christ [Cross].

EPH 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups [Jews + Gentiles] into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,

EPH 2:15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,

He faces the two camps, Jews and Gentiles, and tells them to lay down their arms because both have been reconciled to God on the same ground – the Cross!

MAT 25:40 “to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

JOH 13:35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

There on the cross was the eternal Christ who by the word of His power holds the universes together, HEB 1:3.

There on the cross was the One who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him, 2CO 5:21.

GAL 6:14 But may it never be that I should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,

1CO 1:18 “power” = dunamis – “dynamite.”

The veil was almost a foot thick and forty feet high.

It was ripped from top to bottom.

Dynamite is used to remove great barriers.

Dynamite also destroys.

GAL 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;”

GEN 3:15 The Seed of the woman (TLJC) would bruise the head of that old serpent, the devil.

REV 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

REV 12:11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death.”
