David illustrates what happens when the Peace of God is not guarding the conscience. Part 2.

Wednesday, August 8, 2001

Once the conscience is seared or hardened, the conviction of the Holy Spirit is quenched, 1TH 5:19.

David is actually destroying his own integrity and authority.

David’s real problems begin by being in the wrong geographical location.

David’s negative decisions from the past, his sins of omission in the present, and the hardening of his conscience is about to catch up with him.

PSA 119:9How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word.”

Jacob had 2 wives, Leah and Rachel, plus 2 mistresses – God brought forth the 12 tribes of Israel from Jacob and these 4 women.

ECC 8:11Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.”

Being out of fellowship with God and out of the plan of God, David’s negative decisions from his past are coming back to haunt him.

PRO 26:11Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.”

Ahinoam of Jezreel, 1SA 25:43.

Haggith, the mother of Adonijah, 2SA 3:4.

He has at least 10 mistresses and he took even more wives, 2SA 5:13.

GEN 2:24For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

MAT 19:4-5And He answered and said, Have you not read, that He who created {them} from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh”?

Uriah was one of David’s knights and had been decorated, 2SA 23:39, 1CH 11:41.

Took laqach to snatch, to fetch, to seize, to carry away, to take away.

The word for take which describes a willingness and gentleness and no force = halak = to go wilfully.

David is beginning to have no conscience whatsoever.

shakab = to have sex many times; used for rape or forcing oneself upon another; used for one of David’s sons raping one of David’s daughters, 2SA 13:11-14.
