The difference between our Lord’s resurrection body and ours, Part 2.

Sunday, March 4, 2001

ROM 12:1I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.”

1CO 6:13The body is not for immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord is for the body.”
1CO 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

2CO 5:10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

There will be only one resurrection body with scars and wounds, “the Lamb of God”, REV 5:6,12.

ISA 53:10But Jehovah was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render His soul as a guilt offering, He will also see His offspring, He [God the Father] will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.”

Mary Magdalene did not recognize our Lord in His resurrection body, JOH 20:14.

LUK 24:16two of our Lords disciples, did not recognize our Lord in His resurrection body.” JOH 21:12 “the disciples could not recognize our Lord in His resurrection body.

For example, His body retained the nail prints; ZEC 12:6.

His body retained the scar of the wound in His side; JOH 20:25-27.

Our Lords body was also recognizable as a human body; Luke 24, JOH 20:26-29.

His body could also be touched, Luke 24:39-40.
It had substance. MAT 28:9, JOH 20:17.

Luke 24:39-40“>LUK 24:39-40See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. [And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.]

MAT 28:9And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.”

He carried on conversations so His body must have had some system of vocal cords and the use of air, Luk 24,JOH 20:26.

His voice was recognizable immediately; JOH 20:16.

His body had flesh and bones; Luke 24:39-40“>LUK 24:39-40.

He ate, but He didnt have to eat. He could eat or go without food, LUK 24:30,43.

Jesus walked through closed doors, JOH 20:19,26 LUK 24:36.

The resurrection body was able to appear and disappear; LUK 24:31.

LUK 24:31And their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.”

The resurrection body could move vertically or horizontally; MAT 28:10, Acts 1:9-10.

Our resurrection body will be exactly like His; PHI 3:21, 1JO 3:2.

His face was so marred from looking like a man that His appearance was not that of a son of man or He did not look human!

MAT 26:67Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,”

MAT 27:30And they spat on Him, and took the reed and {began} to beat Him on the head.”

ZEC 13:6And one will say to him, What are these wounds between your arms? Then he will say, {Those} with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”

In Jesus resurrection body does He bear scars?

ISA 52:14Just as there were many who were appalled at him, His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness.”(NIV)

ISA 52:14They shall stand dumbfounded, speechless in his presence. They shall see my Servant beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one would scarcely know it was a person standing there.” (TLB)

The only man-made things in heaven for all of eternity will be the scars upon TLJC.

REV 5:6And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain,
