The different tests that take place as you go forward into the promised land, the land of spiritual maturity.

Thursday, October 4, 2001

Once you are in the right geographical location for your life, you must PMA Bible doctrine to your life while in the geographical location.

Abraham finally got in the Lord’s geographical will for his life (Canaan), but his spiritual growth is hindered by his nephew Lot and his wife Sarai, and this time he goes down to Egypt.

He is bringing along two believers; both are born again and both will be distractions as well as testing.

Surah 4:34 – the Quran gives authorization for husbands to beat disobedient wives.

This wealth later on will be a divine blessing, but at this time it is no blessing at all and will actually become the source of division.

The test will be: Is that person or that possession more important to you than God and His word, Bible doctrine?

The danger lies in getting your eyes on people or things and forgetting the source of all blessing from the Lord.

Surah 38:44 And finally We told him: Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike her with it, and thou wilt not break thine oath!

MAT 10:37 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”

To accumulate possessions and friends, and to love someone and have that love returned, is absolutely meaningless unless doctrine is #1 on your scale of values.

It is the giver not the gift which is important.

DEU 6:12 “Watch yourself, lest you forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt [bondage of the world], out of the house of slavery.”

DEU 8:14 “Beware that your heart becomes proud, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”

PSA 103:2 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;”

True prosperity comes to us because of our relationship with TLJC and living in God’s plan.

MAT 5:45 “for God causes His sun to rise on {the} evil and {the} good, and sends rain on {the} righteous and {the} unrighteous.”

MAL 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, How have we robbed Thee? In tithes and offerings.”

Teruwmah = a present offered up, especially in sacrifice or as tribute: a gift, a contribution, etc.

The house of God should be supported materialistically, HAG 1:4-8; Acts 2:44-45.

The communicator of the word of God should be supported financially, GAL 6:6.

Those who work for the church should be supported financially, 1CO 9:14.

Abram actually gave deference and honor and courtesy to someone without the authority or character to receive it.

Satan – -Messiah’s angel; J Joseph’s brothers sold Joseph into slavery; Korah – against Moses; Absalom – against David; Judas was close to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Abraham profited from it, but he wasn’t blessed by it.

ISA 51:2 “When Abram was alone I called him.”

One echad a numeral meaning one, or alone.

People who are promoted by other people, or blessed by other people, never have any appreciation, when their motivation is wrong.

They merely used you, and when you were no longer of any use to them, they turned on you.
