Emotional Instability

What God designed for deliverance for His people, He also designed the same for the Judgment of His enemies.

"feared" is the Hebrew verb jare, sometimes it is translated reverence, and sometimes it is translated as the sin of fear, depending on the verb or the content of the passage.

These Jews have an emotional reaction rather than reverence or respect - because they are still afraid.

What they have done is to transfer their fear from the Egyptians to Moses and the Lord.

Prin - They transferred their fear of the Egyptians to a fear of the Lord and a fear of Moses.

The point being is that it is astonishing how quickly emotional people turn in time of pressure.

1SA 8:7   And the Lord said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them.

Who is impressed?

2,000,000 people minus Bible Doctrine, who have freaking against Moses and even God.

They believed but their faith is predicated on what they SAW, it is not predicated on Bible doctrine.

Many believers today are impressed by the things they see, but they do not have the capacity for appreciation because that comes from Bible doctrine resident in the soul.

Just hours ago they were all on negative emotion and emotionality is irrationality.

They associated their deliverance with security not with their freedom, but with how they felt.

Their singing was an expression of their emotion not an expression of their doctrinal application.

Emotion without doctrine is meaningless!

This was strictly an emotional revolt.

Emotion is part of the essence of the soul and the resides in the brain.

Emotion has two functions in life as a part of the soul: a normal and an abnormal function.

The emotions of the soul are designed to respond to what is in the mentality of the soul.

"koilia," - one of the Greek words for the emotions, means something that is empty, or hollow.

Emotion contains no doctrine, no thought, no common sense, and no ability to reason.

By definition the emotions are the appreciator of the soul.

By function, the emotions respond to the right lobe.....or the thinking of the soul.

Emotion is not designed to assume authority over the soul, but is designed to be dominated by the right lobe.

Emotions are also a stimuli for action, and therefore must be regarded as a form of human energy.

Emotional stress causes people to act on impulse.

The emotion of fear = flight.

The emotion of disgust = repulsion.

The emotion of anger = violence.

(1)  Such a believer makes a god out of his emotions, Phi 3:18f.

(2)  Such a believer's emotional pattern distracts him from the execution of the PPOG, Rom 16:17-18.

(3)  Emotion hinders the PMA of B.D., 2Co 6:11-12.

(4)  Such a believer's unrestrained or uncontrolled emotional pattern is the basis for criminality, violence, hatred, anger, total involvement in the arrogance complex, which means bitterness, vindictiveness, jealousy, implacability, self-pity, guilt reaction.

Under the PPOG for the Church-age, emotions are not adequate guides for motives, thoughts, decisions, and actions of the believer.

Psa 7:9 "For the righteous God tests the [heart] right lobes and the emotions [reins]."

If emotion responds to the right lobe you have a normal soul.

If emotion controls the soul you have an abnormal situation.

Psa 26:2  "Test my [mind --- Hebrew is emotions] and my [heart] right lobe."

Testing your emotions is used as an anthropomorphism to determine your capacity for life.

To challenge you to capacity for life God says He tests your reins (emotions) and your heart (brain).

Since capacity for life is based on the amount of doctrine in your heart [called the right lobe in psychology], testing your reins refers to testing the response of your emotions to this information.

One of the dangers that many believers face is called the emotional revolt of the soul.

Emotion can be a hindrance to the plan of God and a distraction to the perception of doctrine, as noted in 2Co 6:11‑12.

The emotional revolt, backed by the old sin nature, causes emotion to become the aggressor instead of the responder.

Prin - Instead of responding to doctrine in the soul, the emotion revolts and takes command of the soul.

Second prin - Instead of responding to doctrine in the right lobe, the emotion responds to mental attitude sins, approbation and power lust, and human good.

When you become emotional than you do not operate in EPH 4:29 which says;  "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear."

You let corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, and you do not have good words for edification according to the need of the moment, and you do not give grace to those who hear.

You do not operate in EPH 4:30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Now that you are in emotional revolt you  "You let unwholesome words proceed from your mouth,

You do not give grace to those who listen to you.

You grieve the Holy Spirit, and you express your bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander.

You are emotional and filled with malice!

You are emotional and definitely not kind to others and are not tender‑hearted, or forgiving  as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

If you are an emotional believer you live in the delusion of Pro 14:12 that "there is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."

Legalism is the way of death.

Self-righteousness is the way of death.

Moral degeneracy is the way of death.

Once the emotion revolts against the heart and becomes the aggressor, the believer loses all capacity for life and comes under the influence and domination of the old sin nature.

Since the OSN isn't "man enough" to carry out his duties, people in emotional revolt are very frustrated.

Emotional revolt is the emotion fornicating with the old sin nature.

There is negative volition to doctrine plus recession of thought, replaced by the frantic search for happiness and total dependence on feeling rather than on common sense.

Believers who live by their emotions are believers whose emotional revolt has produced chaos within the soul.

Rev 2:23  "And I will kill her children [Church-age believers] with death [sin unto death], and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the emotions and the right lobes."

When this happens, doctrine in the soul is neutralized or distorted, hindering the execution of the PPOG.

Emotional revolt of the soul = Phi 3:19  "their destiny is destruction [sin unto death], whose God is their emotion, whose fame comes by means of dishonor, who keep on thinking about earthly things."

In 2Co 6:11-12 we read that the apostle Paul says "Our mouth has spoken freely to you, O Corinthians,

2Co 6:12 You are not restrained by us or in bondage because of us......[Paul, Apollos, Timothy], but you have are in bondage in your own emotions."

The Greek word translated affections is the Greek noun splagchnon which according to the NAS Strong's concordance means emotions.

Rom 16:17-18 says  "Now I urge you brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances [false, apostate teaching] contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them.

For such individuals are slaves, not of our Lord Jesus Christ, but of their own emotions, and by their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the right lobes of the simple or the ignorant apostates."

Prin-Emotions have no capacity for thought, reason, or discernment.

The soul becomes blind, unreasonable, unrestrained, arrogant, immoral, legalistic, antinomian, and anti-doctrine.

Emotional revolt of the soul means loss of a personal sense of destiny, failure to execute the PPOG, failure to understand and utilize the problem solving devices.

  1. The "bowels" are used to designate the emotions. Gen 43:30; 1Ki 3:26; Jer 4:19, 31:20; Lam 1:20, 2:11; Phi 1:8.

The bowels are a portion of the anatomy that is empty but filled with something, namely they are filled with the waste of the body.

In Gen 43:30, family love stirred Joseph emotionally to the point of weeping.

In Gen 43:30, when Joseph met his brothers who had turned on him and sold him out, it says  And Joseph hurried out for he was deeply stirred over his brother, and he sought a place to weep; and he entered his chamber and wept there.

When Joseph saw his brothers who had turned against him and sold him as a slave, the KJ's Bible says in Gen 43:30  And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

Did Joseph have to take a skubala or was he so emotionally responsive that he had an emotional response?

"deeply stirred" = the Hebrew verb kamar which refers to a legitimate form of emotion.

JER 4:19   My soul, my soul! I am in anguish [emotionalism] ! Oh, my heart! My heart is pounding in me; I cannot be silent, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.

  1. The "belly"or what the NAS calls the appetites of the body and is designated or revealed as a part of the emotion in Pro 18:8, 26:22; or as in the Greek in Rom 16:17‑18; Phi 3:19.

PRO 18:8  The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.

Here or the innermost part of the body or the belly is the Hebrew noun beten referring to the belly as an expression of what we can identify as butterflies or nervousness in the stomach.

When you rejoice over the tragedies of someone, you are jealous of them and sometimes you end up producing an ulcer in your own soul.

  1. The word "reins" are also used to designate the emotions in the Bible.

The Hebrew word kiljah refers to the fat pads which cover the kidneys and adrenal glands as it is used in the Bible.

It is stimulated by the emotions. Psa 139:13; Pro 23:16; Jer 12:12, 20:12.
