According to our chart we have:

Dispensation = Conscience

Opening Event = Able offers a lamb - Cain murders Abel (Gen 4:2-15)  (which we have noted)

Man's Responsibility = Believe and obey - Gen 4:3-7Heb 11:4.

Man's failure - his conscience was so defiled and perverted that we read that God destroyed those who were on the earth in Gen 6:5-7.

Man's Tendency = He fell away from God - Gen 6:11-13.

Closing Event = Judgment - flood - Gen 7:11-23

Personal Salvation  = By Grace through Faith - Gen 6:8; Heb 11:4-7;                                 1Pe 3:18-22.

  1. The reason why Cain was not executed was because it had not been a law up to the time of Cain.

  1. The mark of Cain was also the mark of divine protection not a mark of violence.

  1. The mark of Cain permits Cain to remain alive so that he can have an opportunity to be saved.

  1. The mark of Cain could also have been a hopeless, pathetic look, something that would stir pity in any individual's heart, so that Cain became an object of universal pity.

  1. The mark of Cain is God saying, "This man is still my property. Hands off!"

  1. The mark of Cain also was given because the right of capital punishment belongs to a duly constituted government, and is never, ever to be an act of personal, private vengeance.

  1. If God killed him, there wouldn't be any living example of what an unbeliever's life is like.

If God had killed him, then there wouldn't be anybody to see what an ungodly life is like.

  1. The mark of Cain was given because God wanted to make the distinction between the life of the righteous and the life of the unrighteous to those who were alive.

The doomed protest their judgment. - They have hopeful beginnings, they offer unacceptable worship, they resent God and God's people, they reject God's Word, they hide their sin.

People like Cain ultimately indicted by God and under judgment; inevitably protest divine judgment.

That is an assault on God's fairness; God's justice, God's righteousness, God's love and God's kindness, grace and mercy.

And rather than repent and be forgiven so as to have the curse removed, this lover of sin and negative volition only complains about the unreasonable burden and unkindness of God's sentence.

It's possible to translate this as if Cain is saying to God "And from Thy face You have forced me to hide."

PRO 28:1  The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, But the righteous are bold as a lion.

PSA 53:5 There they were in great fear where no fear had been;

The doomed fail to appreciate common grace.

Closing Event = Judgment - flood - Gen 7:11-23.

Personal Salvation  = By Grace through Faith - Gen 6:8; Heb 11:4-7;                                 1Pe 3:18-22.

There's no way that you could ever convince me that a group of Jewish Rabbi's would have contrive to hide the Christian Gospel in a genealogy of the Torah.

This passage also points out the importance of going back to the original language and discovering what was really said.

This book was divinely inspired by God!
