The Doctrine of Dispensations, Part 17. The Promise Behind The Rainbow In Genesis 9. Pastor Robert Mclaughlin.

One of the signs of manhood and maturity is the fact that a man controls his family, his family does not control him.

This does not mean that a man has to be brutal but it certainly means that anytime a man marries a woman and can’t control her, he made a mistake.

He’s not the only one who made a mistake for one thing that is absolutely necessary and makes life very pleasant is for women to recognize authority.

EST 1:20  “And when the king’s edict which he shall make is heard throughout all his kingdom, great as it is, then all women will give honor to their husbands, great and small.”

In the antediluvian civilization, the civilization was destroyed because women rejected the plan of God and became victims of the fallen angels.

One of the greatest weapons in the world for the destruction of society is a woman who is away from the authority of man.

For one of the great blessings in the original blessings of life is when God gave man the woman and a woman is designed to be a blessing.

The only ones that are mentioned in this passage are the men because God has designed society for men to run society.

Most males want to take absolutely no responsibility for the decisions that they make so you ladies should very selective if you still have the opportunity.

One of the things that is over-looked in the study of Noah is his manhood.

Righteous means that he believed in Jesus Christ! Blameless means that he was uncontaminated in his genealogy.

All mankind was to be blotted out because mankind had become Nephilim i.e., half-human and half-angelic.

1Pe 2:24  “He carried our sins in his own body on the cross.”

Prin-God protects the believer fulfilling His will in time of extreme catastrophe.

God always protects the believer from this extreme catastrophe, which in this case was a universal flood which destroyed all Nephilim and all animal life on the earth except what was in the ark.

Prin-The pivot of mature believers always survives catastrophe.

Prin-It’s interesting to note that one of the greatest cultures of all time occurred during the antediluvian civilization.

Culture and violence always go together, for it occurred again during the fifth century B.C. Athens, during the Renaissance, and it is occurring today in the United States.

When a population gets to this point of saturated evil and violence, God intervenes with judgment.

The earth will only be destroyed once more in its entirety, and that will occur at the end of the Millennium, 2Pe 3:7.

prin-Under the principle that Jesus Christ controls history, there must be, from time to time, great judgments, so that certain segments of the population which are self-destructive can be wiped out.

How did God “destroy them with planet earth?”

In Gen 7:11 “He opened up the fountains of the deep.”

One biblical scientist states that the rain that came from above contributed a very small portion to the flood, only about 2%.

This verse stresses the importance of God’s grace in judgment,  seen in the work of our Lord on the cross, also seen in our Lord’s removal of evil empires from time to time to avoid the self-destruction of the human race.

This was a direct order from God and one of things that we all need to understand is that when God gives an order you don’t always have to understand it, you just have to do it.

That’s the principle of authority, you’re not to question it, you are to honor and respect it…..even if you disagree with it as the apostle Paul says in Rom 13:1-7, where they we told to honor Nero.

The Hebrew word used for Noah’s ark is TEBAH, which refers to what we noted on Wednesday evening, a wooden ship constructed of gopher or cyprus wood, used because it is a light but tough wood.

  1. Verse 17 is a part of the principle that grace always precedes judgment.

  1. God warns about the coming judgment through the doctrinal communication of Noah.

2TI 3:16  All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

  1. God provides the ark as the vehicle for safety and security and as well as a training aid while Noah is preaching.

  1. The devil tried to hinder the incarnation by angelic infiltration into the human race but all he did was to destroy the citizens in his own kingdom.

  1. The ark was the only place of safety when international judgment fell on the human race just as being in Christ is the only place of safety from eternal judgment.

TIT 2:11  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

TIT 2:12  it instructs us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and spiritually in the present age,

In JOH 1:9  Jesus Christ was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

In JOH 12:32 , the Lord said  “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

The concept of man seeking God is found in Jer 29:13 ‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart [right lobe-brain].

JOH 7:17 “If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the doctrine  whether it is of God.”

We often feel sorry for nations going down and sympathize with people under great disastrous conditions but, we should never fail to realize a very important principle….God is just and everyone has a chance.

The occupants of the ark will be inside for 370 days, one year and five days. The flood would last 40 days but before the water would recede and before they would leave the ark they would live in that ark for one Year and five days.
