Like all dispensations, no matter what the Lord does, mankind always seems to find away to reject and rebel against God's plan for that dispensation.
- Refusing to separate from his father Terah
- Going in the wrong direction.

- Living in fear that he would killed by the Pharaoh of Egypt.
- Lying to the Pharaoh of Egypt.
- Asking his wife Sarah to lie to protect him.
- Refusing to protect his wife as head of the household.
Typology is the study of the word of God as it relates to the subjects mentioned which have a secondary meaning.
Typology views people, places and things having a spiritual significance and meaning behind what is being said.
The land of Canaan represents the promise land, the place of fellowship, of learning doctrine, the place of testing, the place of blessing, the place of glorification of TLJC.
When a passage mentions the name of a place, it has a reason for doing so, especially under the first mention principle, when the first time a word is mentioned it usually carries that meaning of the word throughout the word of God.
There are three thing mentioned in this verse, the site of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh and the Canaanite, all these have a spiritual significance concerning what is being mentioned.
Shechem, as an illustration, is a city found in Canaan, the promise land, which means a "shoulder or ridge" and, under typology, it represents an advance in the spiritual life.
The oak of Moreh in Gen 12:6 represents the place of strong and mighty teaching and it indicates a place where Abraham was taught the word of God.
The Canaanites were a demon culture and they represent a type of the rulers, powers, the world forces of this darkness, under the control of the god of this world, 2Co 4:4; Eph 2:2.
Gen 12:6 And Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem [advancing in the spiritual life], to the oak of Moreh [advance doctrine in the promise land of Canaan.] Now the Canaanite [the enemy of Eph 6:12] was then in the land.
The building of the altar represents the edification complex of the soul or the soul structure, Heb 13:10.
Under typology, Bethel represents the place of worship and receiving doctrine and growing in God's grace and knowledge.
Ai, under typology, represents a place of ruin and is a type of the cosmic system.
You have Bethel (house of God), an altar, (PMA of BD) and Ai the cosmic system.
Satan's attack proceeds now through the lack of confidence in the promises of God to Abraham and his tendency toward backsliding spiritually.
Under typology, Egypt of course is the place of total rejection of doctrine.
Egypt is one of the places that Abraham digressed to that even up unto this day some of his descendants are still reaping the consequences of his negative.
Going to Egypt, which is a type of the devil's world, the cosmic system, never solves anything, Isa 30:1-2.
Going back to Egypt is referred to in 2PE 2:22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A dog returns to its own vomit," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."
This instability in Abraham's life also leads to instability in his action and in his marriage with Sarah.
"I am self-absorbed and arrogant and I don't have any faith in the promises of God that He just told me a few verses ago.....and I don't think He's going to preserve me long enough to have those promises be fulfilled and so therefore I want you to lie for me."
Abram, at this point is failing the faith-rest life miserably, and I love it, you know why, because at the and of his life God said something else that is very interesting about him as he saw Abraham from his position and not his condition.
ROM 4:19 And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb;

HEB 8:12 "For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And I will remember their sins no more."

He eventually kept on growing strong in doctrine giving glory to God.
They did have the same father but a different mother, GEN 20:12.
When he fails again in the exact same way with King Abimelech king of Gerar, he says what he says in GEN 20:12 "Sarah is actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife;
Nations that are against the physical seed of Abraham, the Jews, are also against the spiritual seed of Abraham, the Christians, Gal 3:7.
This is the evil behind the religion that has attacked us here in the United States and which has been attacking Israel for decades.

We have all heard from our leaders that "we are not at war with Islam", and that "there is nothing in Islam that condones this type of abominable action.

Second reason-Irrationality characterizes the believer in reversionism and the more irrational you become, the more divisive you become in your thinking.

It is the same one that in ROM 4:19, the Bible says was not weak in faith.
The same one that ROM 4:20 says yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
Abram vowed to always take care of Sarai and now he wants her to lie and protect him instead of him protecting her.
He begins to see her beauty as a danger to his own personal safety.
But now he's coming to Egypt and all of a sudden this beauty that he has enjoyed day in and day out, this beauty that he has treasured and has been a pleasure to him, suddenly becomes a great danger.
Prin-Abram the man is disappearing and Abram the wimp is coming on the scene (that's what happens men when you go down to Egypt).
Second prin-Satan's religion produces cowards.
Cowards who are told to lie in wait and fight and slay anyone who doesn't believe in Allah, Surah9:5.
Cowards who are told that they should beat their disobedient wives, Surah 4:34.
Cowards who are told to make war on unbelievers and hypocrites, and deal harshly with them." Surah 9:73.
Cowards who are told that it is Allah's wish to scourge others for their sins. Surah 5:49.
Cowards who are told in Surah 2:191 Kill transgressors wherever you catch them.
Abram's appreciation for Sarah is gone.
