The doctrine of Election: Be motivated even more to make certain about His calling and election.

Friday, July 2, 2004

Accusative singular feminine noun – eklogen – e*kloghVn – “choosing” = election, the act of God picking you out; that act of God’s free will by which before the foundation of the world He decreed His blessings to certain persons.

It was God the Father who elected us and in election He willed the highest and the best for each one of us.

The Doctrine of Election.
“Elected to what?”

Point 1. Definition.
Election is the expression of the sovereign will of God in eternity past before the universe existed and before mankind lived on the earth.

Election = one of two important principles or desires from the sovereignty of God; the other is predestination.

Election, along with foreknowledge, predestination, justification and glorification, are all printouts from the doctrine of the divine decrees and the sovereign will of God.

Foreknowledge is an aspect of God’s omniscience in which all things, past, present, future, eternal, material, intellectual and spiritual, and actual, are known by Him.

Predestination is the provision of the sovereignty of God for you in eternity past to provide for you God’s plan, purpose, and will for your life.

Justification = an act of vindication.

The justice of God acts on our behalf pronouncing us justified – having a relationship with God forever, having the perfect righteousness of God imputed to us.

Glorification = the act of God whereby ultimately the believer is conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

Election, along with foreknowledge, predestination, justification and glorification, are all printouts from the doctrine of the divine decrees and the sovereign will of God.

They belong only to the believer and they should cause the believer to have a tremendous amount of confidence that God is with them.

Like predestination, election is used for believers only,
EPH 1:4.
ROM 8:33 “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies”

MAT 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Adjective – “polloi” = used from a Semitic or Jewish perspective which involves both quantity and totality = “all.”

DAN 12:2 “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.”

MAR 10:48 “And many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all [polloi] the more,”

LUK 10:40 But Martha was distracted with all [polloi] her preparations;
LUK 18:39 But he kept crying out all [polloi] the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

TLJC is not the first-born among many brethren, He is the first-born of all brethren.

1. Rulership of the family.
2. The privilege of the priesthood.
3. The privilege of receiving a double portion.

TLJC has two rulerships, Israel and the church.

All men have been reconciled to God and have the opportunity through faith in Christ to be justified before God.

MAT 22:14 “For many [the entire human race] are called, but few are chosen or elected [eklektoi].”
ROM 11:29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

The “calling of God” is irrevocable – even though God knows who is going to respond and who is not, He still sends out the invitation – the doctrine of the unlimited atonement.

“The many” or all are called but few are elected.

Election is a benefit which expresses the sovereign will of God for each believer in the Royal Family during the Church-age.
Predestination is the “provision” of the sovereign will of God for your life.

Predestination = the PPOG, your personal sense of destiny, participating in the greatest victory ever won, and the fulfillment of your very own personal drama.

Under election, the sovereignty of God willed the highest and best for every believer, having previously deposited that highest and best into escrow in eternity past.

The mechanics for the election of the Church is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which occurs at the very moment we believe in Christ.

Not only do you have a magnificent destiny under the PPOG, but election says that you have the same privileges and opportunities as all other believers for the execution of that plan.

Under election, equal privilege is your Royal Priesthood.
Equal opportunity is logistical grace support and blessing for both winners and losers.
