The Doctrine of the Second Advent.
Point 1
Definition.
The Word Advent means The Coming or the Arrival of Something Extremely Important.
The First Advent begins with the Virgin Birth and Concludes with the Resurrection, Ascension and Session of our Lord Jesus Christ.
During the First Advent, Jesus Christ in His Hypostatic Union accomplished the strategic victory of the angelic conflict and the salvation of the human race.
This strategic victory gave Him battlefield royalty.
He must have a royal family to go with this royalty.
Therefore, there was the need for the Church-Age.
The Second Advent is designed to reveal Him as both battlefield royalty and Jewish royalty.
At the Rapture of the Church, Christ does not return to the earth as in the Second Advent.
We meet Him in the air.
Point 2, The Distinction Between the Rapture and the Second Advent.
The Second Advent is a well-known Public Event.
REV 1:7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. Even so. Amen.
The Rapture takes place in the air, 1TH 4:17, Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.
The Second Advent takes place on the earth, ZEC 14:4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east;
The Second Advent is followed by the Baptism of Fire,
MAT 25:31‑46, MAT 25:40 “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, {even} the least {of them,} you did it to Me.’
At the Rapture, the Church goes to heaven, JOH 14:3.
At the Second Advent the Church returns with Christ, 1TH 3:13.
1TH 3:13 so that He may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.
At the Rapture the Holy Spirit is removed, 2TH 2:6, And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed.
2TH 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
At the Second Advent there is the Removal of Satan,
REV 20:1‑3.
At the Rapture, there is a change in the believer’s body, PHI 3:21.
S.A. At the Second Advent the earth is changed, ZEC 14:9; ROM 8:19-22.
R. At the Rapture Jesus Christ appears as the groom.
SA. At the Second Advent Christ appears as the Messiah.
R. End of the Church Age.
SA. End of the Jewish age.
R. At the Rapture of the Church Israel is under the fifth cycle of discipline.
S.A. Whereas at the Second Advent there is the Termination or the end of the fifth cycle of discipline.
R. At the Rapture, Believers are taken from the earth, 1TH 4:13-18.
S.A. Whereas at the Second Advent, Unbelievers are taken from the earth, MAT 24:37‑43.
R. The Rapture is a time of comfort, 1TH 4:18.
S.A. The Second Advent is a time of terror, REV 6:15‑17.
Point 3. Analogies to the Second Advent.
a. The Analogy of Nature: Lightning, MAT 24:27.
b. The Second Advent will be seen by all, REV 1:7 “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.”
c. The Second Advent travels at great speed, REV 22:7, 12.
d. The Second Advent disturbs and frightens the unenlightened,
REV 6:15‑17.
e. The Second Advent warns of a coming storm.
(1) Annihilation of the invading armies.
(2) Judgment of Satan and the fallen angels.
(3) Judgment of the beast and false prophet.
(4) Baptism of fire removes all unbelievers from the earth.
(5) Administration of the fifth cycle of discipline to certain nations.
MAT 24:37 it will like the days of Noah which really points to people living under the wrong priorities even though it may refer to the presence of super-creatures on the earth once again.
Verse 39, “they did not know” a big judgment was on the horizon.
c. In verses 40 and 41, the believer is left and the unbeliever is taken in the baptism of fire.
Point 4. The Second Advent and Armageddon.
Armageddon is when Jesus Christ comes back to slaughter the anti-Semitic armies, EXO 14:14; JOS 5:13‑6:2; ISA 37:36;EZE 38:16.
EXO 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.
Our Lord’s own record is broken at the Second Advent,
ISA 34:5‑6, 63:1‑6.
There are two sources of righteous violence: Jesus Christ and the laws of divine establishment, EZE 39:11‑12; JOE 2:20;ZEC 12:2‑3; REV 14:20; REV 19:15.
Point 5. The Second Advent and Operation Footstool.
PSA 110:1 The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand, Until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet.”
HEB 1:13; HEB 10:13 teach that Christ receives His battlefield royalty and waits.
During the Church Age, the royal family represents Christ on earth, not Israel.
After the Rapture, the Age of Israel resumes.
and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.
The Rapture is the place of the Judgment of believer’s works, 2CO 5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
The Rapture is a Private Event, Acts 1:11, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
