Whether you make it or not, whether you grow in grace and knowledge, whether you understand that the road to glory is from saving grace at the cross, to living grace, to supergrace, to ultra supergrace, to dying grace and then to surpassing grace.
Point 8. Supergrace is the objective of the believer after salvation, EPH 3:14-19.
Any prayer when recorded in Scripture has great significance.
Family - noun patria - “patriot” = describes what we really are, members of the Royal Family of God.
Verse 16 - “that” - hina - introduces a purpose clause.
God has a purpose for us. God has a plan for us.
Give - aor-act-subj - didomi (optative mood) = to graciously give, give one something for the advantage of the giver or the receiver.
Optative mood merely presents the action as conceivable but not definite, still contingent.
It expresses the mood of strong desire not yet being fulfilled.
First = “If, and it’s true”
Second = “If, and it is not true”
Third = “If, maybe it is, maybe it is not”
Fourth = “I wish it were true but it is not!”
“According to” - preposition kata = the preposition of norm or standard.
“According to the riches” - ploutos = the abundant supergrace provisions and benefits which flow from the grace of God.
Glory is the essence and the character of God.
PSA 84:5 How blessed [happinesses] to those whose strength [supergrace status] is in You; In whose right lobe are the highways to Zion [supergrace and ultra-supergrace]!
PSA 84:7 They go from strength [supergrace] to strength [ultra-supergrace], Every one of them appears before God or is seen by God in Zion [supergrace status].
“To be strengthened with power” - aor-pass-inf - krataioo = to have inner power and strength so that you will be able to handle anything in life.
The purpose of the Holy Spirit in verse 16 strengthening the inner man is to build a structure in your soul and to establish divine viewpoint as your frame of reference.
“May dwell” - aor-act-inf - katoikeo = to be at home or to be comfortable.
“Through faith” - preposition dia + genitive pisteos - pivstew" = “by means of doctrine”
Rooted - per-pass-part - rhizoo = to become stable, to strengthen with roots, to render firm or to establish.
Grounded - per-pass-part - themelioo = to lay a foundation, to erect a structure, to lay a basis for something.
En + instrumental noun agape = by means of love, EPH 5:18; ROM 5:5.
“May be able” - aor-act-subj - exischuo = to have total ability, to be fully able, to have full strength.
Comprehend - aor-mid-inf - katalambano = to be strengthened, to grasp.
Kata - preposition of norm/standard.
Lambano - to seize.
“To seize according to a norm or standard; to grasp the meaning of what is communicated; to lay hold of something so as to make it one’s own.”
Joseph Thayer - “Katalambano is used of Christ by His holy power and influence laying hold of the human mind and will, in order to prompt and govern it.”
Preposition sun = in the company of; emphasizes the communication of doctrine in a public assembly.
