Point 2. The Essence of God is necessary to understand the Theology of God.
1. God is sovereign = God is supreme in rule and has authority over all things.
2. God is perfect righteousness.
3. God is also just. God’s holiness includes His justice as well as His righteousness.

As a part of God’s justice, God is always fair. It is impossible for God to be unfair, 2CH 19:7; ROM 2:11 For there is no partiality with God. The justice of God always administers what righteousness demands.

LUK 18:27 “The things impossible with men are possible with God.”

Divine righteousness demands perfection.In the immeasurable genius of God, the justice of God imputes Adam’s original sin to every member of the human race condemning them at birth, PSA 51:5; 58:3.

The righteousness of God demands perfection so that the justice of God could condemn man to qualify mankind for a Savior because condemnation must precede salvation.

Sovereignty willed to create, GEN 1:26-28; GEN 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image,”
Righteousness demands perfection; 1PE 1:16 because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Omniscience produces the plan; EPH 2:8-10.

EPH 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.

EPH 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Omnipotence creates mankind;
GEN 2:7 Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Justice condemns mankind; ROM 5:19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

Love provides salvation; JOH 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Eternal Life is given; JOH 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life;

Omnipresence is with you always; MAT 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Immutability is faithful; 2TI 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.

Veracity sets you free, JOH 8:32,36 and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.

Even when He deals with imperfect, sinful, fallen mankind especially when He blesses us, He is not lowering Himself to our imperfect level thus destroying His own perfection.

The justice of God, the function of His integrity, is the guardian of God’s essence in all that He does toward imperfect creatures.

It would be a judge because there would be no family attachment but a judicial one.

When one Member of the Trinity is concerned with Himself or with the other Members of the Godhead, there is no need for a guardian.

There is never a possibility of compromise because all three Persons are perfect, co-equal, and co-eternal; all Three possess the same integrity.

In Himself, God is free to be intimate within Himself.

Related to man, however, there is almost unlimited opportunity for compromise because man violates God’s character at almost every turn. God’s point of contact with us can only be His justice first, and our point of contact with God is also based upon His justice as well.

ISA 5:16 But the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, And the holy God will show Himself holy or just in righteousness.

PSA 105:7 He is the Lord our God; His judgments [justice] are in all the earth.

1. The justice of God is the origin of everything we receive from Him, both blessing and cursing.
2. The reversionistic believer’s discipline comes from divine justice, but then, so does the mature believer’s blessing.
3. Both the unbeliever’s eternal agony in the Lake of Fire and the believer’s ultimate sanctification and reward in heaven come from the same Source, the justice of God being first.
