Easter Special: The greatness of the grace of God in the offering of resurrection life.
Sunday, April 15, 2001
It is abundantly clear that no man lives free of guilt. “Guilt alas” is universal. It’s always been so among earthlings. The indictment is not found just in churches, it’s found in the heart of man.
PSA 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. PSA 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.
JER 13:23 “Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then you also cannot do good who are accustomed to doing evil.”
“Those who know how close the connection is between the state of mind of a man, his courage and hope and the lack of them, will understand that the subtle loss of hope and courage can have a deadly effect.”
We cannot change ourselves; only God can do that. We need a power that’s greater than any man can offer.
We know that no man or woman on earth has that power.
If the power’s going to be really workable it’s got to be omnipotent; it’s got to get us through the grave, or it’s limited.
One hopelessly ill person One hopelessly blind person One hopelessly confused and unfaithful person All three found that their answer is in resurrection.
He had a lot of money, he had a lot of property, he had a lot of servants, he was righteous, and he had a lot of kids.
JAM 5:11 “Behold, we count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.”
What changed a man that brilliant, that persuasive, that stubborn?
MAR 16:7 “But go, tell His disciples and Peter, He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He said to you.”
1PE 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
