The fantastic privileges of the indwelling of the Lord Jesus Chirst as the Shekinah glory, Part 2.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

"Shekinah" is derived from the Hebrew noun Shakan, meaning to dwell.
It refers to the fact that Jesus Christ indwelt certain sacred buildings in Israel.

Shekinah was used to express the “invisible presence”
of God with Israel.

COL 1:15-18 And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.

"Glory" is the Hebrew Biblical word kabodh which was used for the visible manifestations of Jesus Christ as a Theophany.

A Theophany is an Old Testament manifestation of the person and work of Jesus Christ in His pre-incarnate state.
Theophany is a theological category for the appearances of Jesus Christ before the First Advent.

Shekinah itself represents the invisibility of Christ as the God of Israel, indwelling three sacred buildings during the age of Israel.

EXO 25:8-9 And let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall construct it.

Notice the word pattern which speaks of the accuracy that God demands as a pattern for His people to follow. One of the most important manifestations of the indwelling of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Shekinah glory is the importance of accuracy.

The exact directions and accurate dimensions of the pattern are given in verses 10-21. EXO 25:22 And there I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.

The Lord would only meet above the mercy seat if the accurate and precise directions were followed. In verses 23-39, the directions and the precise correct procedure for the table of shewbread and the golden lampstand are given in every minor detail.

EXO 25:40 And see that you make them after the "pattern" for them, which was shown to you on the mountain.

A part of your love and respect for the fact that Jesus Christ indwells your body is the accuracy you reveal in worshipping our Lord in Spirit and in truth.

Accuracy in your worship toward God is actually evidence of your love, respect and admiration toward God.

PSA 119:7 I shall give praise to Thee with integrity of heart "when" I learn your doctrines.

JOH 1:18 No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father,

He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].

In the Old Testament the Shekinah Glory would dwell in the form of a pillar of
fire & smoke.

He would also dwell between the golden cherubs as a sign of blessing and protection.

The change of residence of the Shekinah Glory is yet another example of the dramatic changes that took place in the Church-age.

The hypostatic union refers to the fact that in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ are two natures, He is true humanity and undiminished deity in one unique person forever.

As the God-man, Jesus Christ is different from the other members of the Trinity in that He is true humanity, and He is different from mankind in that He is eternal God.

Jesus Christ is the unique person of the universe.

JOH 1:14 He tabernacled or He tented before us.

skenoo which is close to the Hebrew shachan from which we get Shekinah.

JOH 1:14 He became flesh and shekinah’ed before us.

The change of residence of the Shekinah Glory is yet another example of the dramatic changes that took place in the Church-age.

In JOH 2:18-22, the Lord referred to His body as a Temple, and the new dwelling place of the Shekinah Glory.

In the Church-age, the body of each believer is a temple in which Jesus Christ, the Shekinah Glory, now dwells under the doctrinal concept of 2CO 6:16; LEV 26:11-12.

LEV 26:11-12 ‘Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you. I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.’

2CO 6:16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

This change of residence of the Shekinah Glory indicates the transition between the dispensation of the Hypostatic Union and the dispensation of the Church.

The indwelling of God the Son in the body of every believer is the badge of the Royal family.

Under the dispensation of Israel, the Shekinah Glory dwelt in the tabernacle and temple to be the focal point of worship in the nation.

The Shekinah Glory resided among His people,
but not in them.

For the Jews, the purpose of the Shekinah Glory in a human body was to provide salvation.

The Lord Jesus Christ came in the flesh to bear man’s sins in His body on the cross, 1PE 2:24.

Under the privileges of "the new things that have come in the plan of God for the Church-age believer," the Shekinah Glory indwells every believer’s body for the purpose of fellowship with a glorified Christ.

As a Church-age believer advances to Spiritual maturity, he glorifies Christ in his body, 1CO 6:19-20.

1CO 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

1CO 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Every member of the Royal family is a brand new creature permanently indwelt by the Lord Jesus Christ.

The indwelling of Christ never leaves the Church-age believer, unlike the Shekinah Glory’s departure from apostate Israel.

The believer in the Church-age can have the type of impact that spiritual champions or invisible heroes can have.

The same Lord who was with the spiritual champions of the Old Testament dwells in every Church-age believer,JOH 14:17-20.

JOH 17:22 And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them;

This is a reference to the Shekinah glory which was given to the humanity of Christ from God the Father as the Lord was fulfilling His personal sense of destiny by means of the power of God the Holy Spirit.

JOH 1:14 He tabernacled or He tented before us.

skenoo which is close to the Hebrew shachan from which we get Shekinah.

JOH 1:14 He became flesh and shekinah’ed before us.

JOH 17:22 And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one;

COL 1:26-27 that is the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations; but has now been manifested to his saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the confidence of the [Shekinah] glory.

The glory includes the indwelling of the person of Jesus Christ, the Shekinah glory.

They may be one as We are One.

JOH 17:23 I [the Shekinah glory] in them,

JOH 17:23 I (God the Son) in them.

And You (God the Father) in Me,

God the Father indwelt the humanity of Christ during the incarnation, when He became a man.

"hina" introduces a purpose clause translated that or in order that.

Perfected is the
per-pass-part from
the verb teleioo
which means
complete or matured.

No believer can ever attain spiritual maturity without understanding the reason and purpose of the indwelling of TLJC.

They may become mature believers or that they may attain spiritual maturity.

"That we may be matured in unity,"

"in unity"
The preposition eis plus the accusative neuter singular from the numeral heis.

eis heis

Eis plus the accusative neuter singular from the numeral heis means with reference to one.

REV 4:11 "Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created."

You have been given the Shekinah glory to indwell your body and to fulfill God’s plan for your life thereby glorifying God with His very own glory.

JOH 17:23 I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity or matured with reference to one objective, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.

The greatest sacrifice of God the Father was the ultimate sacrifice, He gave His uniquely born Son.

ROM 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

ROM 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

ROM 8:33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;

ROM 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

JOH 17:23....that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.

One of at least 15 different reasons for the indwelling of Jesus Christ in your body is a sign that God loves you just as He loved Jesus Christ His Son.

JOH 17:24 Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world.

JOH 17:25 O righteous Father, although the world has not known Thee, yet I have known Thee; and these have known that Thou didst send Me;

JOH 17:26 and I have made Thy name of Thy person known to them,

God the Father is the master-mind of the predesigned plan and the author of the escrow blessings.

JOH 17:26 and I have made Thy name known to them, and will make it known; that the love wherewith Thou didst love Me may be in them, and I in them.

That love will never be in you until you become a believer at least at spiritual self-esteem and learn to endure and accept the reason you have been created.

PHI 1:29 Because to you it has been graciously given with reference concerning Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on behalf of Him,

1PE 1:8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory the Shekinah glory,

1PE 4:14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of the Shekinah glory and of God rests or is at home upon you.

EPH 3:19 when you come and to know the love of Christ or for which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

1. Personal love for God, the highest motivation in life.

**101** 2. Then you will develop impersonal unconditional love for all mankind.

**102** The great objective is to have God’s love in us which will give us the ability to handle any problem in life.

**103** JUD 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

**104** JUD 1:25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
