The Father of all believers means no fear. Pastor Joe Sugrue.
Sunday, March 25, 2007
God the Father is the Father of all believers.
God is not the Father of all mankind but only of regenerate born again believers.
All Church-age believers are personally and eternally related to God the Father as sons and daughters through the new birth, GAL 4:6; EPH 1:5; 3:14-15; 4:6.
GAL 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
EPH 3:14-16 For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
EPH 4:5-6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
GAL 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Our new position as children of God through faith in Christ Jesus brings with it a great number of blessings, some of which are absolute transformations.
The question to the one who now has the potential to be an invisible hero is – will you embrace the change?
The reality of our new centering on Christ is an assured fact. We have been brought out of death and into life.
We have been established in Christ as a new hinge or pivot around which all life is to revolve. Therefore, we are debtors because if we live after the flesh the Christian life will be defeat and not triumph.
We have received the very life of Christ – not the One dying a spiritual death on the Cross; we will never ever die a spiritual death, but we have received the life of our resurrected Lord – the Resurrection life.
In the life of Resurrection we are to live in freedom from the fear that conscience inspires.
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear.”
For whenever there is legalism there must, of necessity, be the spirit of bondage and fear.
The Galatians fell back again into the spirit of bondage and the spirit of fear.
The one who is in bondage can never render anything more than the service of a slave.
The one who is truly joined to Christ has the service of a son, and this is what manufactures invisible heroes.
While in the scripture it is linked back to our union in the resurrection life of Christ by the indwelling of God the HS, it is also linked forward to our position as sons and the tremendous outgrowth of power, responsibility, and authority which is ours because of that oneness with Christ.
God does not want His children to be in fear of ANYTHING.
The Christian is never to tremble with fear or be tormented with anxiety.
God’s wrath having been locked up forever, and we having been begotten to divine son-ship and adopted into official position in the Family of God, we may turn to our Heavenly Father with utter calmness, and with full confidence that He cannot turn us away.
The spirit of bondage from the time of Moses until the time of Christ bringing conviction of sin.
The spirit of adoption which is given to take away all fear and to afford us complete assurance in our new relationship.
The great difference between Israel and the Church is a difference of administration.
We have been given the HS to indwell our bodies and therefore we have the guarantee that God is our Father forever.
The spirit of adoption means that we have been grafted in as adult sons into the Royal Family of God forever.
I have received the spirit of adoption as a son of God.
I am no longer under the curse of the Law so I don’t do things to impress my Father.
God is my Father and I can claim that in any circumstance and I can go to Him at any time to find comfort at the Throne of grace.
All of this makes me to love my Father.
When I truly love my Father I will never fear ANYTHING again.
