If you have capacity for life, and capacity for love, capacity for happiness, you also have the ability to be alert.

Present participle – ginomai + pres-mid-imp – gregoreo = Be constantly alert

Alertness for every type of problem is very, very important.

Alertness with regard to temptation is basically where it starts.

Alertness with regard to your failures and what to do about it, the function of the rebound technique.

Alertness to spend as much time as possible in the PPOG.

Alertness to make sure that you are not distracted by others from learning the word of God.

Distraction has two categories.
a. Related to self.
b. Related to others.

The arrogance complex – jealousy, bitterness, vindictiveness, hatred, implacability, self-pity, hypersensitivity, motivational and functional revenge, gossip, slander, maligning and judging others.

When we are arrogant, we are constantly bringing upon ourselves self-induced misery, which is stupid and dumb but very real.

The two major trends in the old sin nature.
1. Legalism and self-righteousness.
2. Lasciviousness and lawlessness.

REV 3:2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.

1. Sexual arrogance of the shattered Christian life, EPH 4:19.

EPH 4:19 and they [believers], having become callous [scar tissue of soul], have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

a. Normal sexual arrogance includes adultery and fornication.

b. Abnormal sexual arrogance includes masturbation, homosexuality, lesbianism, incest, and voyeurism.

c. Criminal sexual arrogance includes rape, pederasty, bestiality, and necrophilia.

The shattered spiritual life which rejects the head of the body and the joint that the head has assigned them to is described by Christian criminality, EPH 4:28.

Malice is the motivation and desire of the shattered believer to inflict suffering on others.

You can only recover from the shattered unstable spiritual life by using the problem-solving devices.

ISA 43:25 “I have blotted out as a thick cloud thy sins, and as a cloud thy transgressions.”

Distraction is a lack of concentration.

Arrogance is the greatest distracter in life, and the greatest cause of self-induced misery.

PRO 16:18 “Arrogance precedes destruction; and before a fall, there is a lifestyle of arrogance.”

PRO 11:2 “When arrogance comes, then comes dishonor; but with the humble is wisdom.”

PSA 25:8-9 Good and honorable is the Lord; therefore, He instructs sinners in the way.

In justice [divine integrity] He guides the humble; consequently, He teaches the humble His way [plan, purpose].

PRO 29:23 “A person’s arrogance will bring him low; but a lifestyle of humility will attain honor.”

Humility + concentration = success in achieving any objective.

It is inevitable that a shattered believer, whose trend is toward self-righteousness, will begin to judge others.

The fragmented believer becomes preoccupied with the sins and failures of others, whether they are real or imagined.

1. He is distracted by the sins and failures of others, real or imagined.
2. He becomes a distraction to others through moral degeneracy.

Spiritual advance requires understanding and utilizing the ten problem-solving devices of the PPOG.

We must have the privacy to fail and recover, to sin and rebound without interference from others.

We all have areas of strength in our old sin nature; and this is where self-righteousness, legalism, or morality comes from.

We also have an area of weakness which is prone to lasciviousness.

According to PRO 6:16-19, and the gospels, the sins of legalism are considered far worse by God than the sins of lasciviousness.

Arrogant self-righteousness is invariably parlayed into crusader arrogance, which is often mistaken for the Christian way of life.

They did not give the woman her privacy; they brought her before the crowd and our Lord.

The Scribes and Pharisees who symbolize those who judge and make accusations against others.

It is inevitable that the shattered spiritual life, which rejects the head of the body and the joint that the head has assigned them to, whose trend is toward self-righteousness, will begin to judge others.

Fragmented believers become preoccupied with the sins and failures of others, whether they are real or imagined.

They had to spy on the woman and invade her privacy to catch her in the very act.

EPH 4:14 as a result, we are no longer to be spiritual morons who fall apart, unstabilized, driven out of control by every wind of false teaching, by the trickery of cosmic recruiters, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

Making this woman stand before the crowd demonstrates the terrible vindictiveness of the Scribes and Pharisees.

They called him “rabbi” which is a respectful vocative used for a teacher, but they said it in great sarcasm.

Acts 13:45 but when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul,

Acts 17:5 but the Jews becoming jealous took along some wicked men from the market place and formed a mob and set the city in an uproar

DEU 22:13-30 – both male and female adulterers were to be tried, and if found guilty, they could be stoned to death, but that is not applicable here.

They were not really interested in justice, but sought revenge against this woman and wanted to discredit our Lord’s ministry.

What is important is the fact that He ignored them because of their motivation of arrogance and self-righteousness.

By stooping down, TLJC separated Himself from their attitude as evil judges.

TLJC had no intention of compromising with evil, neither condemning the sin of the woman nor condoning the sins of the Scribes and Pharisees.

The Pharisees see themselves as being absolutely right and the woman as being totally wrong.

He deals with the worst sinners first.

He condoned neither moral degeneracy nor immoral degeneracy.
We have a woman who knows she has failed and is guilty.

Then there is another group of individuals who consider themselves to be righteous and beyond reproach.

These Scribes and Pharisees can appear righteous before men, however, in the eyes of TLJC they are the guilty party.

In Phariseeism and self righteousness, the leaders are usually the worst ones.

Their silent withdrawal and their rocks left un-thrown revealed they were guilty as well.

We have received encouragement and insight concerning our positions on the team called the Body of Christ.

The two power options: the filling of the Holy Spirit, and Bible doctrine circulating in the soul.

To live off one’s reputation in the spiritual life is to be dead.

REV 3:1 “I know your deeds, that you have a name [reputation] that you are alive, but you are dead.”

All good things lie within the compass of the Cross.

Justice and love are married in the atoning work of Christ on the cross.

REV 1:18 “I was dead, and behold I am alive forevermore”

COL 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.

Song 5:16 His mouth is most sweet; yea, He is altogether lovely. This is my Beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Our love for Him becomes our bond of union with one another.

Finding Him, we have found each other.

Do not remain in cosmic death. Change your system of thinking.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.
