Florida Conference 2009. Part 3. Sit, Walk, STAND.

HEB 4:12 The word of God is alive and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit, of the joints and marrow, and is a critic of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
2TI 3:16-17 All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2PE 1:20-21 Know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, and no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men carried along by God the Holy Spirit spoke directly from the exact thinking of THE God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
2TI 2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto God as a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What is Your Soul Condition?

1JO 1:9
If we believers in Christ admit our known sins to God the Father, He is faithful (He always does the same thing) and He is righteous (free from sin Himself and thus completely qualified) to forget our known sins, and to cleanse us from our unknown sins as well.

The Christian STAND

Take a STAND
in the face of REJECTION

PSA 53:1
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God”

2CO 4:3
And even if our gospel is veiled (and it is), it is veiled to those who are perishing (unbelievers)…

2TH 2:10 …and (they are deceived) with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

The Study of the Lord Jesus Christ

The Study of the veracity of the Bible

The study of the enemy of God

The study of the salvation work of the Lord Jesus Christ

They have to work for their salvation

The Bible is not the absolute truth

The enemy of God, Satan, does not exist

The Lord Jesus Christ did not live a sinless life

REJECTION of Yourself by Self

Take a STAND in the face of REJECTION

To resist, to stand fast, to oppose…regardless of the source of the rejection… regardless of duration of the rejection…regardless of the intensity of the rejection

EPH 6:10 Finally, be strong (endunamo) in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
EPH 6:10 [Corrected Translation]
“But from now on, keep on becoming strong in the Lord, even by means of his endowed power.”

PHI 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
PHI 4:13 [Corrected Translation]
I can do all things through One who keeps on pouring His enabling power into me.

Take a STAND in the face of REJECTION

What is the problem of rejection directed toward you?
What is the DIVINE solution to rejection directed toward you?
What is the result of handling rejection well?

The Problem Of Rejection Directed Toward You

Rejection is an outside pressure of adversity

PSA 55:3
Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they bear a grudge against me.

2CO 4:17
For momentary, light affliction (80 years of it) is producing for us (believers in Christ) an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. JOH 15:20 “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they (the members of the cosmic system) persecuted Me (the Lord Jesus Christ, and they did), they will also persecute you.”
1TH 5:18 …in everything (including rejection) give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

You have a choice concerning how you handle pressure

MAT 26:33 But Peter said to Him, “Even though all may fall away because of You, I will never fall away.”
MAT 26:34 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
MAT 26:35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.

Pressure is a privilege,
not a problem,
if we choose the right perspective on the situation.

The effect when force is applied to a surface

1CO 14:20
Brethren, do not be children in your thinking (in the face of rejection…you have a choice) yet in evil (wrong mental attitude) be infants, but in
your thinking be mature (spiritual adults).

HEB 12:3
[Corrected Translation]
For begin thinking of such a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, who endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary fainting in your souls

As you advance in the spiritual life the pressure of rejection will increase

One form of pressure is SELF REJECTION, an active form of rejection.

Another form of rejection is from others and is a passive form in that you are acted upon by others

Very few believers are prepared doctrinally to handle the problem of rejection, yet it is a problem we encounter every day

When you misperceive a situation, your problem is self righteousness

PHI 3:13
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
PHI 3:14
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Defending yourself when you are being rejected is a sign that you are a child in your soul

Rejection is an attempt of the enemy to take away from you the victory of mental serenity that is rightfully yours, that was earned FOR YOU
at the Cross

1CO 15:57 …but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1CO 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast (take a STAND in the face of rejection), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

PHI 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Since you have a choice, learn to love rejection

1PE 2:20
For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated (deserved rejection), you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it (undeserved suffering) you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.

1PE 2:23
…and while being reviled, He (the Lord Jesus Christ) did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously

Use rejection as fuel for your growth.

2CO 4:15 For all things (including rejection) are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God.

Love your enemies

MAT 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”

MAT 5:46 “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?”
MAT 5:48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Think highly of yourself by thinking doctrine

ROM 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

HEB 12:2 ...keep on concentrating on (the Lord) Jesus Christ, who brings us to the supergrace life by means of the bible doctrine in our souls, who instead of remaining in a state of happiness (+H), because of the doctrine resident in His soul, endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and is seated in the place of highest honor at the right hand of the throne of God (the Father)

Give up your endless quest for perfection… choose to turn off your “need” for perfection immediately.

1JO 1:8
If we (believers in Christ) say that we have no sin (nature), we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
1JO 1:10
If we (believers in Christ) say that we have not sinned (personally), we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Learn to separate the doer from the deed…
you are not what you do…
you are what you think

PRO 23:7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is.

Choose not to take rejection personally…instead, use the problem solving devices… let the Lord’s solutions be your solutions

DEU 31:8
“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

The Divine Solution to the problem of the outside pressure of rejection…
a solution you control…
is to erect the problem solving devices in your soul and to use them in the face of rejection

Identify the sin
Admit the sin
Forget the sin

Let God’s power handle rejection

Counteract lies with truth

Give the benefit of the doubt, especially when it is not deserved

Lean on the foundation of Bible doctrine

Remind yourself that God has a personal plan for your life

Being grateful for the grooming of your God

Loving others with a one way love that does not require anything of them and does not take their flaws into account

Being content regardless of the circumstances of adversity or prosperity or impending physical death

Bringing every thought into captivity to Christ

Dramatically increase your intake of Bible doctrine
HEB 11:6
And without faith (bible doctrine) it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

The Result Of Handling Rejection Directed Toward You
As you advance in the spiritual life the pressure of rejection will increase

EPH 4:14
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming
EPH 4:15
...but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ

The result of handling rejection well is Spiritual Adulthood!

Rejection of Self
Spiritual Self Esteem

Rejection of Others
Spiritual Autonomy

Rejection of Satan
Spiritual Maturity

LUK 22:31
“Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat (to cross examine you from the witness stand)

LUK 22:32
…but I have prayed for you, that your faith (doctrine) may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again (which you will), strengthen your brothers.”

LUK 22:33
“But he (Peter) said to Him (the Lord Jesus Christ), “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!”
LUK 22:34
And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”

Take a STAND in the face of REJECTION
DEU 31:6 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”
