Freedom to walk in newness of life. Part3.

Sunday, February 21, 2010

This result follows our faith in Christ - the baptism of the Spirit puts us in union with Christ in His death, His burial, resurrection, ascension and session.

United in the likeness of His death - retroactive positional truth = the OSN, the old man, the old Adamic nature, the flesh has been crucified and buried.

United in the likeness of His resurrection - current positional truth = the new life of Christ given through union with Him while He sits at the right hand of God.

This verse means that the policy of good and evil, both as to its policy and as to its function, it destroyed through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is a positional destruction.

Being united with Him in His resurrection we have the basis for newness of life. Newness of life = the status quo of the mature believer.

The old sin nature is not eradicated, but rather we have freedom from the power and the tyranny of the old sin nature as the ruler of our lives.

Being identified with Christ in resurrection gives the potential to walk in newness of life which is manifested by fruit production.

The sole purpose of a vine is to supply nutrients to the branches so that they might bear fruit. You are not on this earth for Christ; Christ came on this earth for you.

You can glorify His word and His plan by abiding in His word and allowing the truth to set you free and in that way you glorify the deity of the Trinity: Father - Author; Son - executor; Spirit - revealer and power source.

John 17:22 "And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one;

At salvation, we are identified with Christ in resurrection. We cannot elevate Him any higher, but we can glorify the Trinity be executing the plan that they have given us.

As we attempt to execute the plan of God for our lives we will be constantly reminded of horrendous fall that we could have faced but were saved from.

We should have a hearty fear, or wholesome serious caution against returning to the authority of the sin nature and missing out on the freedom and rest of the spiritual life that has been given through identification with Christ in His resurrection.

HAB 3:19
The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.

When the life of Christ first comes to us it brings the consciousness that there is nothing beneath us of our old life that can in any wise support us.

When you stop resting in Christ and step out your own, you will find yourself in the place of struggle, and will undergo the wrenching nausea of the pit of Roman, 7. But always it is possible to get back into the place of rest — quick as a look.

PSA 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
PSA 62:6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

PSA 37:24 When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong;
Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.

The experiences of life may cause you to peer into the pit a dozen times or a thousand times, but your identification by the Holy Spirit guarantees passage back into ever-increasing resurrection life.
