Fruit of the Spirit: Patience/Longsuffering.

Friday, August 24, 2012

1JO 1:9 If we acknowledge our sins, He is faithful and righteous, with the result that He forgives us our sins and purifies us from all unrighteousness.

Makrothumia: translated patience and it means patience and longsuffering.

First of all the patience and longsuffering of God is related to His loving-kindness and truth, PSA 86:15.

PSA 86:15 But Thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger [patient and longsuffering] and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.

Patience and longsuffering is also related to the compassion of the Lord, in PSA 103:8.

PSA 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger [patient and longsuffering] and abounding in lovingkindness.

Patience and longsuffering is related to the power or omnipotence of God, Nahum 1:3

NAH 1:3 The Lord is slow to anger [patient And longsuffering] and great in power.

The patience and longsuffering of God is related to the principle of repentance, ROM 2:4.

Patience. A believer who has the patience and the longsuffering of God will be very sensitive and compassionate to those who are guilty and need to repent!

The patience and longsuffering of God is related to the Lord’s tolerance and endurance with us, 1TI 1:16.

Patience is developed by and is the production of God the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

Patience is also developed through the power of the Spirit and the power from Bible doctrine in the soul of the believer.

Patience/Long-suffering is a system of thinking, it is not an emotion.

Graciousness. Patience will give us the power and the gracious system of thinking to have great understanding and sensitivity toward others.

Patience is a virtue which gives the believer fantastic strength under pressure.

Patience gives us the strength and power to handle undeserved suffering and mal-treatment and bring glory to the Lord.

Perfect and complete lacking nothing does not mean sinless perfection, it means maturity and contentment.

Patience also allows us to put up with each other as we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

Chrestotes refers to being gracious and operating in grace orientation

REV 12:10 speaking of Satan says, “for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.”
