Getting out of fellowship through the temptation of human viewpoint, fear and worry.

Wednesday, October 24, 2001

The first victory was over mental attitude when he learned that Lot was taken prisoner and was on his way to slavery.

Without one “I told you so,” he went immediately to his rescue, ignoring the fact that Lot had maltreated him.

The second victory was a great military victory. One battalion defeated 100,000 men in a night attack.

The third great victory was one of motivation.

Turn to GEN 14:21

Melchizedek reminded Abraham that God, “possessor of heaven and earth,” GEN 14:19, could give him much more security than the King of Sodom.

JOH 8:44 “Satan was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.”

Surah 9:3. And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people assembled that Allah and His Messenger dissolve treaty obligations with the Pagans.

Surah 5:101 Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you may cause you trouble…Some people before you did ask such questions, and on account lost their faith.

Surah 3:54 The greatest Deceiver of them all is Allah.

The final victory = Abraham won the great victory over self-righteousness.

Abraham had a spiritual victory and was on a spiritual mountain top, Gen 14.

After all of these great victories, Abraham got out of fellowship through the temptation of human viewpoint, fear and worry.

Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, was still alive, and Abraham began to fear that he might come back with another great army and take revenge.

He was also afraid of the King of Sodom who might revenge himself upon Abram because Abram had refused his proposition.

He began to be concerned about loss of human security.

Turn to PRO 28:6, 20

Abraham realized that if he had accepted the portion of the spoils of the king of Sodom he would have been secure for life.

His third concern = he was worried that he had no heir.

GEN 11:30 = the status quo that Sarah was barren.

We are most vulnerable to failure after great success, unless we have the perspective of grace.

2CH 14:7 – when God gives rest, it’s time to build and prosper.

He is in a status quo of stress and anxiety, and when this is prolonged, it leads to neurosis, psychosis, mental illness, emotional breakdown.

PSA 50:10 “For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills.”

HAG 2:8 “The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,” declares the Lord of hosts.

Turn to PSA 27:1-6

We have over 7,000 promises in the word of God with many parts attached to them.

If you believe the promises of God, you will have peace and inner happiness.

If you believe human viewpoint and look at your circumstances with it, you are going to worry yourself into a state of terrible misery.

GAL 3:7 Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.

1CO 11:7 the woman is the glory of man.

You cannot change your past but you can change your future.

Turn to PRO 5:1

Vigor howd your honor, glory, majesty, your ability to fulfill your right man or woman.

Optimum satisfaction in sex is related to virtue in the soul not sexual athleticism.

ISA 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
