Our God,
+
one weak flawed human always
=
an unbeatable combination.
We are all flawed, but despite any flaws, if we are available and willing God will use our weakness, flaws, even in those times when we are fearful to accomplish HIS plan.
We get our eyes off of ourselves and in our weakness we find HIS strength.
JUD 6:1-3, Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years HE gave them into the hands of the Midianites. Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds.
Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country.
Haman is a descendant of Agag, King of the Amalekites.
Some sixteen generations later
“If you persist in remaining silent at such a time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but both you and the house of your father will perish. Who knows? Perhaps you have come to the throne for just a time as this.”
JUD 6:6-10 When the Israelites cried to the LORD because of Midian, HE sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the GOD of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I snatched you from the power of Egypt and from the hand of all your oppressors.
I drove them from before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your GOD; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to ME.”
It wasn’t so much a case of the LORD not being number one in their life anymore… it was a more a case of the LORD not being allowed to play any part in their life at all!
If the LORD is with Israel, how come all this bad stuff has happened to us?
The obvious answer is that Israel had left their God.
It was their sin which lead to this difficulty.
Having trouble in your life? Having trouble in your job, Having trouble in your marriage.
Having trouble in your family?
Continue to live and work and love as unto the Lord, live in those PSD’s and remember that He is the ultimate boss, and all things will work
together for good for those who love HIM.
Gideon is not some extraordinary man. He was an ordinary man from an ordinary family in an ordinary tribe.
He was weak enough to cause GOD to choose him, and he was obedient enough to follow GOD’s call even amidst doubt, weakness and uncertainty.
Before you get involved with serving the local assembly the same is true…you will be a better servant, when you own house is in order.
God knows Gideon and He knows us, in fact He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows we are weak and fearful creatures at times and doesn’t expect perfection.
To be a warrior you don’t ever want to turn your back on the enemy and this was a good test.
What a shame and shock it is when that which was once defeated or that which you have been delivered through or from in your life
rears its ugly head again and again takes control.
