God the Father elected the Church-age believer to the honor belonging to Christ.

“just as” – kathos = even as, in conformity with the fact. His blessings in verse 3 are in conformity with divine election.
It is God’s desire to bless every member of the human race in conformity with election in Christ. Faith from the free will of the creature limits the number of creatures who benefit.
“He chose” – aorist middle indicative of eklego = to pick out, to choose, or to elect. Middle voice = for Himself.
Gnomic aorist = God’s election of the believer is absolute without equivocation. The standard of that election is the standard of Christ.
The implications of current positional truth all have to do with the fact that we share what Christ has. Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, we share everything that Christ has and is.
a) Christ is eternal life, we share His eternal life, 1 John 5:11,12.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.
b) Christ is absolute righteousness, we share His righteousness, 2 Cor 5:21.
2 Cor 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
c) Christ is elected, we share His election, EPH 1:4; ISA 42:1.
d) Christ has a destiny, we share His destiny, EPH 1:5; EPH 4:11-13.
e) Christ is the Son, we are in union with Christ, we share His sonship, John 1:12.
f) Christ is the heir, we share His heirship, ROM 8:16,17.
g) Christ is sanctified, we share His sanctification,
1 Cor 1:2.
h) Christ is a King, we share His kingdom, 2 Peter 1:11.
i) Christ is a high priest, we share His priesthood,
1 Pe 2:9-10; HEB 10:10-14.
The reason why some believers enjoy the fruit of their election while others suffer the loss of blessings that come with election is because some tap into the storehouse of blessing and others ignore it.
