Joel 2:12-13 is a cry to evangelize and the wake-up call needed for that time and it was describing the call to the future generations right into the 7 year Tribulation. There will be 4 waves of defined evangelism in the Tribulation Period.
Joel 2:12-17 is a reference to washing clean of sins, turning from the negative past decisions and having a change of heart. The statement; “rend your heart and not your garments” is God’s true desire of the inner change (mind/soul).
Pro 23:26 Give me your heart (leb), my son, and let your eyes (`ayin) delight in my ways.
Joel 2:14 Who knows whether He will not turn and relent and leave a blessing behind Him, even a grain offering and a drink offering for the LORD your God?
Joel 2:14- principle that God may come in to open the floodgates of blessing again after we repent or we may have to reap what we have sown for awhile longer.
Zec 12:10 “I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.
The 2nd Advent will be the time of the full recognition of Jesus Christ as the one true God & savior- everyone whether prominent (David/Nathan), or common (Shimeites) will have a complete awakening & understanding that Christ is KING!
Joe 2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and the nursing infants. Let the bridegroom come out of his room and the bride out of her bridal chamber.
“sanctify a fast” — the word for “fast” here does not mean a fast. It means to set apart a special worship period; time that would ordinarily be devoted for something else is now devoted to worship. (occupation with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ)
Verse 16 — “Gather the people.” Gathering the people means bringing the Jews back from the various parts of the world. When the Jews are brought back from various parts of the world the first thing we have is the baptism of fire.
2Th 1:7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven (2nd Advent) with His mighty angels in flaming fire,
2Th 1:9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
Joel 2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, — “sanctify” in reference to 2nd Advent it means gather all in Jerusalem where Jesus Christ is the guest of honor. But the sanctify (set apart) for the time this was written & for CA Bels is the call to adjust to the justice of God.
To sanctify in the Old Testament was to set apart by a thorough washing of body, clothing and full preparation to be cleansed for proper worship and communication with God. This was a shadow of what the Lord Jesus Christ would introduce to the Apostles.
Exo 19:10 The LORD also said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments;
2Chr 29:5 Then he said to them, “Listen to me, O Levites. Consecrate yourselves now, and consecrate the house of the LORD, the God of your fathers, and carry the uncleanness out from the holy place.
Leviticus 21 outlines the requirements for the purity that God required of them. A descendant of Aaron had to be pure, unspotted and without physical defects before he could offer sacrifices or offering to God. Then they had to perform ritual bathing before entering the Temple.
Eze 36:25 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.
God will use people, pastors and circumstances in our life to wake us up to the lies of the cosmic system and our own failure to maintain our relationship with Him. It is up to the Bel to respond positively and apply what has already been given to us.
Jhn 13:7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter.”
Jhn 13:10 Jesus said to him, “He who has bathed (louō) needs only to wash (niptō) his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”
1Pet 1:22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,
Psa 51:2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.Psa 51:6 Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom
1Co 6:11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Pro 14:14 The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied with his.
