God’s love toward a supergrace believer whose conscience has been defiled and seared.

Tuesday, August 21, 2001

To finesse a person so that he judges himself is just what a pastor should always do, not to condemn the person but to restore the person.

1CO 11:31But if we judged ourselves rightly, we should not be judged.”

You resent the individual who has judged you, and then you still have the problem.

The purpose of doctrine is to finesse you into a place where, as a believer priest, you face yourself in the eyes of the Lord with the doctrine which is taught.

traveler helek a traveler, a wanderer, a stranger = the interlocking systems of arrogance which are now residing in David’s seared conscience.

Rich man = David who has everything as the king of Israel.

Poor man = Uriah who is poor in comparison to David. Little ewe lamb = Bathsheba.

Because David’s conscience is so seared, it requires the simplest type of story to reach what is left of David’s integrity.

Transference arrogance = taking one’s own flaws and transferring them to someone else.

For David to recover from his conscience being seared, he must come to a place where he judges himself because rebound and recovery is needed.

Repent metanooeo to recover and change your mind.

1JO 1:9If we acknowledge our sins, He is faithful and righteous, with the result that He forgives us our sins and purifies us from all wrongdoing.”

ROM 12:2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The motivation for the lukewarm believer does not come from doctrine resident in the soul but it comes from hurting in some area of their life.

When you’re being stupid, you have to learn things the hard way!

Warning discipline + intensive discipline = stupidity.

By using a parable, an illustration, or a story, objectivity is maintained and the message is communicated so David will condemn himself from his own integrity.

PSA 32:3When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.”

wayyichar-aph the nose of David became hot; not the ordinary word for anger, but the word for explosive anger.

ISA 3:9The expression of their faces bears witness against them.”

PRO 30:13There is a kind oh how lofty are his eyes! And his eyelids are raised in arrogance.”

David assumed that Nathan was teaching about a real case, but he did not associate the case with himself; a case of blind arrogance.

He has entered into the arrogance of hypocrisy, authority arrogance, and he is also very self righteous.

Here is a supergrace believer who has become very self- righteous.

Self-righteous arrogance is quickly aroused to anger against others for doing the very same things that the self-righteous do themselves.

EXO 20:13You shall not murder.”

DEU 17:17Neither shall the king multiply wives for himself.”

The son of the adultery who will die, 2SA 12:14-19.

Amnon, Davids elder son by Ahinoam of Jezreel, will repeat the rape of David his father on Bathsheba by raping his half sister Tamar.

Tamar is the full sister of Absalom, and in 2Sa 13, Absalom murders his half brother Amnon = analogy of Davids murder of Uriah.

Davids rebellion against God in the Absalom revolution.

MAT 7:2For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.”
