A lawyer asks what he must do to inherit eternal life – Our LORD answers with the Shema, hear Israel the Lord is our GOD and the LORD is one.
Jesus tells the parable of the good Samaritan. Jesus stays at the house of Martha and Mary, where Mary sits and his feet and listens to HIM.
Moses is told by GOD to gather 70 elders of the Jewish people to stand together with him.
The Sanhedrin (the rabbinical high court) would have 70 judges.
70 years of exile: Through the prophet Jeremiah, GOD promised there would be 70 years of Babylonian captivity, after which GOD would remember and redeem HIS people.
“What a mercy it is when the preacher knows that his Master is coming after him, when he can hear the sound of his Master’s feet behind him! What courage it gives him! He knows that, though it is very little that he can do, he is the thin end of the wedge preparing the way for One who can do everything.”
These 70 received the power to heal, it seems they had the same power as the Apostles were given. And we too have a unique power, one they didn’t have at that time. We have the Trinity living inside of us.
If you take all the Gospels and combine them, compare them, you will find that the days, the actual days covered by the Gospels is only 65 days.
JOH 21:25, Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
The more we hear GOD’s truth, and the more we experience HIM in our lives, the more we are accountable for. To whom much is given much is required.
Together, serpents and scorpions represent the dangerous and poisonous power of Satan’s forces what we call the KOD..
These seventy disciples learned what we should learn: When we boldly do what Jesus tells us to do, we can count on the fact that HE will bless us in ways beyond our expectation.
The Bible actually mentions four falls of Satan:
From glorified to cursed (EZE 28:14-16).
From having access to Heaven (JOB 1:12, 1KI 22:21, ZEC 3:1) to restriction to the earth (REV 12:9).
From the earth to bondage in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (REV 20:1-3).
From the pit to the lake of fire (REV 20:10).
Satan’s fall was GOD’s immediate judgment upon that rebellious spirit (though not complete judgment, which still awaits). That is the rebuttal phase of that trail.
After GOD uses them in some way, they are arrogantly impressed with all they did for GOD.
GOD wants us to always see that what HE did for us is always far greater than what we could ever do for HIM.
PRO 16:18, Pride goes before the fall, or destruction, and an haughty, feeling of grandeur, before a fall.
Did you know that it is recorded that HE wept 3 times, and yet we never read that HE laughed? Yet we see HIS great sense of humor throughout the scripture.
HE had to send the simple, because the wise of this world would never go out as lambs among wolves.
HE had to send the simple, because they would not change the message.
HE had to send the simple, because HE wanted to reach the simple.
HE had to send the simple, because they would rejoice over the work.
The great men of the Old Testament would have longed to see Jesus’ ministry and to minister for HIM.
The word for tested here does not necessarily mean to tempt, it could have been a sincere question as one would ask searching for knowledge.
However, this man’s first and perhaps greatest mistake was in assuming that he had fulfilled the first commandment.
His second mistake was in thinking that he could fulfil the commandment to love GOD with all he had and still possibly not fulfil the command to love his neighbor. 1JO 4:20, If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar;
His third mistake was in the way that he wanted to narrowly define neighbor. If only our friends and those who are easy to love are our neighbors, then perhaps this man and we fulfill it. But does it really fulfil the command?
The road from Jerusalem to Jericho was well known for crime and robbery. So, it wasn’t surprising to Jesus’ listeners that HE set the story on this road.
This road is too dangerous for me to stop and help the man.
I’ve got to get to the temple and perform my service for the Lord.
I’ve got to get home and see my family.
Someone really should help that man.
I don’t know first aid, but I will pray for him.
To sit at the feet of Jesus implies readiness to hear, accept and obey what Jesus teaches. PMA.
To sit at the feet of Jesus implies submission to Jesus; rebellion is done with. Our rebellious nature is controlled by our New Nature.
To sit at the feet of Jesus implies faith in who Jesus is, discipleship, love.
The way to your own revival is to begin at the Master’s feet; you must go there with Mary and afterwards you may work with Martha.”
There are people like Mary: Those who know how to serve and also sit at Jesus’ feet.
There are people like Martha who diligently, and with good intention serve God, but without adding the one thing – a focus on Jesus – failing to hear HIM because they are not sitting at HIS feet. And it results in great frustration.
There are people who don’t do either. They are not even in the house with Jesus, for they are too busy with their own pursuits.
There are people like Mary: Those who know how to serve and also sit at Jesus’ feet.
