Unheard Unique Ways On How To Overcome Fear. What Is It To Fear The Lord? Is God In Control? The Only Fear Is Fear Itself.
Our Lord said in JER 29:11 ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
The Bible also says, “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Jos 1:9).
HEB 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.
He is Here and in 2PE 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
We have begun to look at some of the major points of wisdom and the importance of how to handle our thoughts in times of pressure, especially those thoughts from fears, worries, anxiety, panic and stress.
The Doctrine of Fear.
Point 1. Definition.
Fear is used in at least three ways in the Bible.
a. Fear is used for a mental attitude sin, characterized by panic when in a dangerous situation as well as intimidation.
b. Fear is also a painful emotional distress aroused by impending pain, danger, disaster, evil or by illusions regarding the same.
c. The third way that fear is used in the Bible is for reverence, respect, or awe.
Fear is designed by God to be rational creatures, but fear makes us irrational.
When you face your fear, most of the time you will discover that it was not really such a big thing after all.
Fear causes failure to learn and apply Bible doctrine to the problems of life, and failure to learn and utilize the problem-solving devices.
Fear causes failure that leads to worry, anxiety, insecurity, incapability of doctrinal application, and therefore inability to use the problem-solving devices to solve one’s problems.
The word worry comes from the word “to choke”, “to strangle”, and it is an extension of fear.
If you have fear, worry, anxiety, or insecurity in your life, you are sinning in those areas; Rom 14:23b, “whatever is not from faith is sin.”
Fear includes all the problems of emotionalism, for fear is an emotional sin.
Many sins involve only thinking but fear involves emotion and no thinking which is why fear can torment is.
For the believer, fear causes failure to learn and apply Bible doctrine to the problems of life, and failure to learn and utilize the problem-solving devices.
When a believer rejects the plan of God The Christian loser is bogged down and hindered from his advance by various categories of sins and arrogance related to fear.
PSA 56:4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?
To face your fears and not be afraid is the final test of maturity.
Fear is crippling, it shackles those who could do great things and keeps them from even attempting that which they could possibly achieve.
Fear chokes and kills dreams and creativity and the most interesting thing about fear is that it is a learned behavior.
Point 3. The Snowballing Principle of Fear.
First of all, the Snowballing Principle of Fear is based upon the fact that the more things you surrender to fear, the more things you fear.
Today you may be worried about only one thing: tomorrow about two things, then three, four, etc.
Soon you become so emotionally involved in fear that you have no identity.
Fear changes you so much that your identity as a person, your personality, your sense of humor, and your outlook on life, has brought you back to the vomit of yesterday when you lived in the flesh.
Another sign of the last days is that false prophets, false pastors and teachers would arise among the people and will secretly introduce destructive heresies; (limited atonement).
2PE 2:22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”
Irrationality means loss of identity, which means the accumulation of fear until you are afraid of life.
Fear is something that, if not controlled, continues to develop in your life until you have no capacity to enjoy life and as a believer you become a loser.
For we are told, warned, and commanded, not to end up like the apostle John says said as believers who suffered loss of rewards at the bema seat of Christ; 1Co 10:11-15.
PSA 53:5 “There they were in great fear where no fear had been;”
One of the motivations for becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol is fear of life, anxiety, worry, and tension.
