EPH 6:16-17, in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
The Zayin file which looks like this in the Hebrew alphabet zand Zayin looks like a sword and it represents the word of God.
How important that the word of God was to him when he was in the prison of the chains of slavery during in his lifetime.
In a recent survey it was reported that 78% of the American people are hungry for basic answers and simple solutions.
For too long worship has been covered over with the veneer of ritual, tradition and complicated ways of reaching God!
2TI 4:3-4, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and then they will be turned aside to myths.
It is the best seller of all time because it is brilliant on the basics and simple solutions needed in a complicated world.
JOH 6:63, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
First, it pierces! The present middle participle of the verb diikneomai which means to reach through, to penetrate: The word actually means to cut through.
The innermost intimacies of man's being - it get's right to the point and challenges you!
GAL 4:16 Have I therefore become your enemy by telling you the truth?
PSA 141:5, the Psalmist said Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it,
PRO 9:8, Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you, Reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
ROM 3:13-14 which says Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:"
JOH 7:7, "The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.
Because in HEB 4:12, the second thing that God's word does, it that it judges.
The word for judge is where we get the word critic from, it is the Greek word kritikos translated judge. The word means to critique, to judge, to discern, or to evaluate.
It works, first of all, because it is universal in scope.....no one is hidden from God's sight!
He knows everything about us including our innermost secrets and all the skeletons that we may have or do have in our closet.
The word of God works because it is universal in scope and secondly, it is limitless in exposure!
All things are open means that all things are uncovered. And, laid bare means to be totally and completely exposed.
COL 1:21-22, says that He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach‑‑
God's two edged sword reveals the thoughts of your heart and the intentions of your actions.
It is able to go beyond the action to the motive into the thought life so that He is able to expose and reveal to us the true meaning behind our thoughts, our words and our actions.....if we would simply listen to His truths.
The letter looks like a sword and represented weapons in the ancient world = z This is the weapon that we have to face every difficulty in life with is the word of God....which is alive and very, very, powerful.
2CO 10:4, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
ECC 9:18, Wisdom is better than weapons of war,
The first in the sentence is the Hebrew verb Zakor which looks like this in the Hebrew Árk)z+ that's a Zakor which means bring to my remembrance.
PSA 119:49, Bring to my remembrance the word to Thy servant, In which Thou hast made me to hope.
The word is our weapon but it's useless to us unless we become offensive with it when the pressure is put on us, HEB 4:2.
HEB 4:2, For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.
1CO 1:26-31, For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption," that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
AMO 8:11,"Behold, days are coming," declares the Lord God, "When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.
Here's the whole point of the Zayin file, what would happen to you if the enemy attacks, would you know how to use your weapons?
Under maximum disastrous conditions is asking God for help to recall the promises he needs for the present situation
In his own way, in his own dispensation, he knows the principle of pro-logos.
Hope yachal = to trust under maximum pressure, to have confidence, assurance, security.
The imperfect tense of the verb means I can keep on doing this no matter how pressurized the situation becomes.
This refers to the doctrines and the promises he has already stored up in his human spirit.
This is my comfort = the word of God provides comfort and blessings in times of disaster.
Revived is the Hebrew word chayah = to refresh, to give life, to take in the oxygen needed in the spiritual life.
1. Through all the pressure he has not turned away from God's word.
2. Through all the pressure he has not become bitter.
3. Through all the pressure he has not neglected doctrine.
HEB 12:15, See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;
Q: How does a person comfort themselves?A: They take doctrine learned and make it doctrine applied.
That he can comfort himself means that he is not dependent on anyone else.
PSA 119:53, Burning indignation has seized him the word means to seize suddenly without warning.
Notice that horror seized him suddenly and it wasn't deserved.
True singing comes when you understand doctrine, e.g., Paul and Silas in prison sang such songs.
The house of his pilgrimage is that he understands he is in a foreign country, his only house he has is the sky above and not the chains on his feet.
He realizes that because he has learned God's word in the past that he can handle and problem in the present.
The past circumstances prepared him for the future tests that bring in great victories.
He slams shut the Zayin file shut to prepares us next for the Heth file.
