Guidelines for choosing the right Pastor-Teacher and the right local assembly, Part 1.

Wednesday, April 4, 2001

When a right pastor has gone to supergrace and then on to ultra supergrace,
nothing makes him happier than to have his congregation follow.

MAT 4:19-20Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they immediately left the nets, and followed Him.

MAT 10:38And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”
JOH 10:27My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
JOH 12:26If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall My servant also be; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Amplified – Therefore, My brethren, whom I love and yearn to see, my delight and crown (wreath of victory),

“My wreath” – he is talking about surpassing grace or the blessings and decorations related to eternity.

LUK 14:18-20I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused. I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused. I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.”

MAT 10:34Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”MAT 10:36 “A mans enemies will be the members of his household.

MAT 10:38-39He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.

PHI 4:1 my source of happiness refers to blessings in time.

Your decision to attend a local assembly really begins with your decision to first choose a pastor-teacher.

The Word of God has always been and must always be our norm and standard for decision making.

Never choose a local church because of convenience.

When fully prepared pastors are not using their spiritual gift in some way, this category of men stand in condemnation of the apostate generation.

The importance of Bible doctrine and the price to pay for it; MAT 12:42.

The worthlessness of self-reformation; MAT 12:43-45.

You should not choose a local church because of what it can give you.
REV 3:17 the Laodicean church was rich and wealthy and had need of nothing.

You should not choose a local church because your friends go there.

You should not choose a local church because your family has attended there for years.

You should never choose a local church because it offers a good youth program for your children.

MAT 4:4Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

Does the local church stay true to all the central doctrines of the Christian faith?

2TI 3:16-17All Scripture is [theopneustos] God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

2PE 1:20-21But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

ISA 8:20 “If they speak not according to the word, it is because there is no light in them;”

MAT 24:23 Then if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or There {He is,} do not believe {him.}
