PRO 31:29  “Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all.”

Roman Military Armor

1. All the military equipment was in some way attached or connected to the combat harness called the belt of truth.

2. The main verb in this paragraph is “hold your ground,” but, as we have noted you can’t hold your ground until you have buckled on your combat harness first.

ROM 13:12  Put on the armor of light.

ROM 13:14  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to {its} lusts.

EPH 4:24  and put on the new self, which in {the likeness of} God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

COL 3:10  and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.

1CO 11:30-31, “For this reason many among you are weak [warning discipline] and sick [intensive discipline], and a number sleep [dying discipline].  But if we judge ourselves correctly, we should not be judged.”

Lay aside every weight [sin caused by stress], ROM 12:1, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

HEB 12:12, “Therefore, strengthen the hands that hang down and the knees that are feeble.”  The restoring of your strength is the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Be subject to the Father of our human spirits, ROM 8:16; 1CO 2:11-13 cf HEB 12:9, “Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?”

Or Make straight paths, MAT 3:3; HEB 12:13.  This relates rebound to using the other problem solving devices as well.

EPH 4:22, “That, with reference to your former lifestyle, you yourselves lay aside your old man, you who are becoming corrupted [reversionism and degeneracy] on the basis of the lusts of deceit [strong pressures from the sin nature in your area of weakness].”

EPH 5:14.  This is temporal death or control of the sin nature during your Christian life.

3. You had to have the belt on before you could put the breastplate on.

You have to have truth or Bible doctrine first, before you can operate in the righteousness of God and integrity.

4. When the Roman soldier was buckled up for combat and all of his equipment was in place, he could coordinate and know that defensively he was protected.

Once the equipment was put on and all in place, they would pick up their weapons and move to the FLOT line, which is the defensive area and for a phalanx.

5. The combat belt was also decorated with the buckle, medal plates, inlays of gold and silver and precious stones, which all indicated the campaigns in which the Roman soldier had fought and had succeeded.

The sword, the scabbard, the dagger, the breastplate and all these other items of equipment were attached to the combat harness.

en aletheia – signifies the means by which we reach our spiritual objective in life which is through doctrine or that which is believed.

“belt of truth” comprises the entire realm of doctrine, all its truths, all its categories as it is assimilated by the daily function of perception, metabolization and application of Bible doctrine.

First of all, truth or doctrine is that which will cause you to be more stable, more certain and more sure than ever before.

Truth will also cause you to be certain, confident, positive and assured without being arrogant….for a vital part of truth is humility.

Truth will produce firmness, security and integrity of mind.

Truth is that which frees the mind from pretence, deceit, and falsehood.

Truth or doctrine is the first basic ingredient that the believer needs to serve the Lord, JOS 24:14, 1SA 12:24.

Truth or doctrine will enlighten the believer and guide the believer in the angelic conflict and spiritual warfare, PSA 43:3.

Truth or doctrine also protects us and keeps us from deception, JOH 14:26, PSA 40:11, PSA 61:7.

This is why the apostle Paul warns us that in the last days truth will be rejected and therefore deception will set in, 2TI 4:3-4.

2TI 4:3-4, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will be turned aside to fables.

2PE 3:18  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Remember grace is for our present need, mercy is for our past.

In fact, mercy is God’s grace in action directed toward our past.

Notice in verse 11, truth in man will always spring up or surface. And verse 11 says that God’s righteousness looks down from heaven.

The righteousness and justice of God is completely satisfied when He sees his “truth or doctrine” in operation in man.

JOH 1:14  And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Also, we are told that it is truth which cleanses us and purges us from sin, JOH 15:3.

Speaking of the church, Paul says EPH 5:26  That He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.

PRO 16:6  By lovingkindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, and by the respect for the Lord one keeps away from evil.

2TI 2:15  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.
