The importance of imputations. Tom Cotroneo.
Friday, June 24, 2011
All imputations are a part of God’s master plan and are the function of the Justice of God directed toward mankind.
a. The source, which is God Himself.
b. The nature of the imputation—what is being imputed.
c. The recipient of imputation—a human being.
A REAL IMPUTATION CREDITS TO A PERSON SOMETHING WHICH RIGHTEOUSLY BELONGS TO THEM;
IN OTHER WORDS IT HAS A HOME.
A JUDICIAL IMPUTATION DOESN’T HAVE A HOME;
IT IS GIVEN FROM THE JUSTICE OF GOD TO A TARGET THAT DOES NOT DESERVE IT.
JOB 33:4, “The breath of God has created me, even the breath of the omnipotent One gives me life.”
* Only God has the power to create a human being.
* You are not a biological accident. God personally created you.
*The fact that you and I have life is a gift from God.
1 Tim 2:3-4 – This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
ROM 5:19 – For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.
The imputation of Adam’s sin lays the foundation for every advantage mankind will ever enjoy in time or in eternity.
2 Cor 5:21 – He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
ROM 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died as a substitute for us.”
This imputation turns everything around for the believer.
God can now justify and bless us because we possess the righteousness of TL.
First, we believe in Christ.
Second, God’s righteousness is imputed to us.
Third, God recognizes the righteousness of TL in us and declares us justified.
Fourth, The grace pipeline is opened and God is free to bless us.
