Thursday, August 8, 2002
Laban was involved in heathen practices such as divination, fortune telling, reading predictions of your sign, consulting a medium - these were strictly forbidden when God gave Moses the Law, LEV 19:26; DEU 18:10-14.
GEN 12:2 And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;
In the East, the goats are generally black or dark brown but rarely white or spotted with white; and the sheep for the most part are white, very seldom black or speckled.
1CO 6:7 Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?
ROM 12:20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.
LUK 16:8 “for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.”
Throughout the Gospels the Lord dealt with the disciples privately, since much of what occurred was “family business,” MAT 17:19; MAT 24:3; MAR 4:34; 9:28, LUK 10:23.
MAT 18:15 And if your brother sins, go and reprove him in private;
Rieu translation - Go and have it out with him privately.
Paul respected the privacy of the leaders of the Jerusalem church when he presented his gospel to the Gentiles for their consideration, GAL 2:2.
Phillips translation - “Is that your business, your business is to follow Me!”
Violation of privacy means judging others, ROM 14:4, 10.
Privacy includes the principle of live and let live, 2TH 3:11-12.
Apostates always violate the privacy of others, 1TI 5:13.
Violation of privacy is similar to violations of other freedoms.
Freedom means life, privacy and property.
The principle of life is violated by murder, slavery, and tyranny.
Property is violated by stealing.
Intrusion into the privacy of someone else is compared to stealing and murder.
