Jude part 4. Rick Kabrick.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Jude, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, and a brother of James, to the ones who have been and continue to be forever loved by God the Father, and who have been preserved for Jesus Christ and called.

Mercy to you, and that your inner peace and tranquility, and a relaxed mental attitude may be greatly increased is my sincerest desire.

When giving all diligence in writing to you, beloved, concerning the salvation possessed in common by all of us, I was constrained to write to you persuading you to fight with intensity and determination by means of Bible doctrine for that which was once and for all entrusted for keeping to the saints.

Verse 4: For certain men have begun to infiltrate without your knowledge in a dishonest manner, and have been received with open arms,

men who had been previously written about long ago concerning their judicial sentence, unbelievers perverting the grace of God into unrestained behavior, and denying the only absolute master, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse 5: After serious and careful deliberations I have, therefore, decided to remind you from a position of authority what you have known and still know, that first of all the Lord (kurios), having delivered the people out from the land of Egypt, then, secondly He destroyed the ones who did not have faith in the Lord and were in a state of continuous apostasy.

Verse 6: And the angels who did not carefully keep their original position for which they were created, but deserted their own private dwelling place, He has kept them guarded in continual imprisonment under the authority of total and complete darkness for the purpose of the judgment on that great day.

Verse 7, Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, in a similar manner to these angels, they have totally given themselves over to abnormal sexual acts, going out after a different kind of flesh from their own, cohabiting with beings of a different nature. They are used as an example to us by being held awaiting the eternal fire.

Verse 8, Nevertheless, in a similar manner also, these thinkers of delusion, on the one hand they pollute the body, and on the other hand they constantly reject duly appointed authority and blaspheme the glory of God.

The condition of any society is directly related to the attitude of that society toward the Bible and divine truth…

Verse 9, But Michael the archangel, when he was disputing with the devil, he argued concerning the body of Moses, and did not dare to add to or supplement anything reproachful in a sentence of judgment, but he simply said, “May the Lord admonish and reprimand you.”

Verse 10, But these men, on the one hand they habitually and ignorantly malign the things that they do not have a knowledge of, and on the other hand, the things that they do know and understand by natural instinct, by means of these things they are brought down to corruption and ruin.

When people fail to respond to discipline (fair or unfair) it indicates arrogance.

Verse 11, Woe to them, because they departed from the true course and pursued after the lifestyle of Cain, and they gave themselves over to the delusion and error of Balaam for money.

REV 2:14, “But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam,

1. Power lust rejects duly appointed authority (legitimate authority).
2. Power lust seeks to overthrow that authority.

Verse 12,  1:12 These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;  1:13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

spilas = a sharp rock, hidden or covered by the sea, a reef.

EPH 4:14, As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
