REV 3:11I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, in order that no one take your crown.”

1CO 10:6These things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things,”

1CO 10:11Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”

2SA 11:4 “two Qal imperfect verbs = David kept on seizing and forcing himself upon Bathsheba.”

David’s conscience becoming hardened and seared toward the things of God is manifested by his abuse of authority, 2SA 11:6.

The facade of hypocrisy demands that David show intense interest in the Ammonite war.

Individuals who have a seared conscience have no integrity and no loyalty, and they end up despising those who do.

Uriah was enthusiastic about his report, but David could care less.

David’s conscience has become defiled and seared; so his primary interest in life, the fact that he is a professional soldier, means nothing to David.

Evil is much more devastating to the soul than sin.

“said” = Qal imperfect – amar = he brought this out in a very pleasant way; this was said in kindness, in encouragement, and in extreme hypocrisy.

PRO 19:6 Many will entreat the favor of a generous man, And every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.

ROM 16:18 For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

Believers whose hearts are not right with God are considered to flatter with their mouth, PSA 78:36.

DAN 11:21 “he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue. challaqlaqqah smoothness, slipperiness, fine promises,

go down = Qal imperative – jarad = an order from his commanding officer, the king.

Should Uriah obey the king, or operate in his own integrity and follow the officer’s code which says that while his troops are in the field, he must never go near his family?

The Jewish officer code demanded that Jewish officers refrain from copulation during a campaign.

Obeying the royal family honor code frustrates any attempt of conspiracy in the Royal Family.

Present maseth a present, a tribute, a gift, or a reward.

The royal banquet was designed to encourage their intimacy and their inevitable copulation, and to cover David’s sin of adultery.

David intruded on the privacy of his battalion commander.

MAT 23:3therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say {things,} and do not do {them.}
