The life and times of Ambassador Noah. Part 4. Pastor John Farley.

Sunday, January 14, 2007

Noah has a lot to teach us about our ambassadorship during these end times we are living in.

Noah lived in times that were not all that different from our own.

Grace always precedes judgment.

If you stick it out with doctrine, and become spiritually mature, you can receive divine warning from God concerning the future.

Doctrine will put you in the minority.

The ship that Noah constructed represented action from doctrine, and it was a source of ridicule – until the floods came!

One super-grace believer on the earth in a time of great catastrophe can turn the whole course of history!

Today, we encounter an invisible enemy, Satan and his fallen angels comprising the kingdom of darkness, EPH 6:12.

Through Noah’s ambassadorship, God preserved the line of pure humanity for the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Do you hear the word of God but ignore it, or do you believe it and take action based on it?

Do you hang in there with doctrine, even when things get tough and you are being ridiculed and marginalized?

God is to be praised for His preservation of true humanity, for on the ark was Shem, whose seed would eventually produce our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God.

TLJC won the strategic victory on the cross, and we have the privilege of winning the tactical victory by advancing to spiritual maturity.

aor-act-ind of apothnesko = to die by separation, a reference to our Lord’s spiritual death on the cross, 2CO 5:21; 1Pe :24.

MAT 27:46 “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

HEB 13:5 For He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”

During the entire time that He was on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ remained impeccable though He underwent the greatest temptation anyone ever faced.

“in order that” introduces the purpose of the cross = “He might bring us face to face with God.”

Sinful man is brought face to face to God with perfect righteousness because of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross!

“might bring us” is the aor-act-subj of the verb prosago meaning to bring us near.
Pros = face to face
Ago = to bring

“spirits now in prison” are the “beni ha elohim” or the “sons of the gods” of GEN 6:1 ff.

“made proclamation” = He proclaimed certain doctrines and informed those demons in prison that they had failed.
“who” refers to the sons of the gods, beni ha elohim, who are in prison now in Tartarus.

God kept waiting under the principle that grace always precedes judgment.

antitupon = “a copy or representation of something.” It’s where we get the English word anti-type.

A type is a shadow on the pages of the Old Testament thrown by a truth whose full embodiment of anti-type is found in the New Testament.

Kibotou refers to a treasure chest or wooden ship constructed of gopher or cypress wood.

COL 2:3 In Whom (Jesus Christ) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The ark represents to us the principle of eternal security, being in union with Christ.

It was [300 cubits] 450 feet long [that’s one and a half football fields], seventy-five feet wide, and forty-five feet high.
It had one material, gopher wood, representing the humanity of Christ.
The bulkheads were secured with pitch or asphalt.
Only one set of plans were used.

There was only one door in the ark, analogous to the fact that there is only one way to adjust to the justice of God, and that is through The Lord Jesus Christ.
JOH 10:9 “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved.”

The one window is analogous to the fact there is only one objective after salvation, to reach maturity.

There were three floors to the ark, which for us represent the concept of progress after salvation: SSE, SA, SM.
There is only one place of security in time of disaster: inside the ark.

ROM 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Water was an instrument of destruction for unbelievers but physical deliverance for believers!

“corresponding to that” is antitupon = “a copy or representation of something.”
The baptism which saves us is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, not water baptism!
EPH 4:5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

Union with Christ delivers each member of the Royal Family of God from any form of divine judgment.
They were delivered from the catastrophe of the flood by being inside the ark.
