The Lord Jesus Christ has inherited a new Rank, Title and Office, and so have we.

Friday, June 20, 2003

The resurrection, ascension and session is based on the strategic victory of our Lord in the angelic conflict, Heb 1-2.

“Having become” –
aor-mid-part – genomenos – genovmeno” = to become something you were not before.

The aorist tense of ginomai points to the time of the cross when TLJC broke the back of Satan and all fallen angels through His victory.

COL 2:14 Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

COL 2:15 When [at the cross] He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Middle voice of ginomai = TLJC did all the work, but we are benefited by it.

Participle = this was God’s purpose for TLJC to fulfill.

Better – kreitton = superior or more advantageous.

“He has inherited” –
per-act-ind – kekleronomeken – keklhronovmhken = to be an heir; to inherit; to obtain.

Kleronomeo = “heirs” or one who receives the property of one who died; also one who inherits a rank, title, and an office.

a. A new rank, in His humanity, He is now seated at the right hand of God, the highest place of authority in the universe, MAT 28:18.

MAT 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”

b. TLJC has a new title, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
1TI 6:15, REV 17:14; REV 19:16.

c. TLJC has a brand new office, our Lord is appointed a high priest by God the Father,
HEB 5:4-10; HEB 6:20.

a. Our new rank, we have been made kings, REV 1:5; REV 5:10.

b. Our new title, we are God’s beloved sons and children of God, EPH 1:6; MAT 3:17, 1JO 3:1.

1JO 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.

c. Our new office, we are royal priests, 1PE 2:5,9.

TLJC is greater than the angels and we are in union with Him and “joint heirs,” therefore we are greater than angels positionally, and someday experientially.

Name – onoma = title, authority, character, fame, reputation and integrity.

HEB 1:4 – TLJC did not inherit a new name but a new title, authority and character in His humanity.

Begotten – perf-act-ind – gegenneka – gegevnnhkav
= all children are the property of the Father, but brought into the world by extension of the mother.

Worship – aor-act-imp -proskuneo = to kiss; to adore; to respect; and to worship.

The humanity of TLJC will be worshipped by angels at the Second Advent.

Aorist tense = at the point of the Second Coming angels will worship TLJC while Church-age believers throw demons into prison.

Active voice = God allows the angels the privilege of worshipping Christ.

Imperative mood = the mood of command and directive.

The angels are not merely servants, but of such a nature that God makes them according to the “needs” of His service, they are changeable, in contrast to the Son who is their ruler, and unchangeable.

God could not say this to deity, and He never said this to an angel; He said this to the humanity of Christ, making the humanity of Christ superior to angels.

Although we are now inferior to angels in our human bodies on earth, in the future, in resurrection bodies, we will be totally superior to angels, PHI 3:21.

Because you are positionally superior to that elect guardian angel being in union with Christ, that angel, invisible, serves you right now.

PSA 91:11-12, For He will give His angels commands concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

When TLJC sat down at the right hand of God that revealed that He was better than angels because He is the heir of all things and the creator of the universe,
HEB 1:1-2.

TLJC is the expression of the nature of God and the Sustainer of the universe which He created, as well as the sacrifice which paid for sin, HEB 1:3.
